5 months on..... Can I ask for scan photos?

DH and I found out at out 12 week scan that our much wanted baby has died at 8 weeks. At the time (in our moments of dark humour) we laughed saying we should have asked for our money back (we have to pay in advance at our hospital) but thinking about it I'd quite like a copy of one of the stills from the scan.

Is this possible (I.e. Are they kept as part of my medical records) and who would I contact?

They might do, im not sure who you would contact though. Maybe have a look on line and see if there is a number to ring at the hospital for enquiries. Sorry for your loss, I hope you manage to get hold of them.

I asked for my scan photo.
Missed m/c oct 2013.
Had to see counsellor in hospital first to see my reasons for wanting photo.
Had to confirm to dr that I realised that photo would not confirm reason for miscarrying.
Photo is now in my cupboard and I have a feeling of being able to bring my baby home.
Sounds a bit odd, but I feel complete with the photo at home.
Now have 2 week old son.
Take one day at a time.

Possibly kept in your hospital file.
Call hospital unit where u were treated.

they may have scan photos in your records, with my 2nd mc i had weekly scans from 6 weeks, baby died at 10 weeks. i couldnt bring myself to take the pictures but they were printed off and put in my records, after erpc i asked for one from epu and she gave me it no probs, i still cant bring myself to look at it but maybe one day. When we found that our baby had passed away at the twelve week scan we were told that the scan photos were kept and that we could obtain a copy at any time. This was the West Herts Trust by the way.
