Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Should I worry?

I delivered my stillborn son at 21 weeks 5 weeks ago. I was still bleeding brown old blood up until last Fri when I started having really bad cramps, and the bleeding got heavier and bright red. Text my midwife who said it was probably my periods kicking back in.

Felt lousy all weekend, generally unwell and headachy. Today I have passed a piece of fleshy tissue (maybe some placenta?) which smelt really offensive. Should I be worried about this or is this normal after delivery?

Oh bless you, i am so terribly sorry for your loss. I would phone the emergency scany bit of the hospital and tell them what you describe. They surely should scan you if you are passing bits. If there's anything left in there it is an infection risk, and you should probably have blood tests done too. I know nothing about this except from recent unpleasant experience!

I'm so sorry for your loss.

From my successful pregnancy (as oppose to my two MC's) this doesn't sound normal so I agree that you should get checked out.

I am so sorry for your lossThanks
I think you need to call your hospital and tell them or get your gp to do it. I had a late mc at 17 weeks. 6 weeks later I needed a erpc due to retained products.

Went to a walk in clinic last night and the dr wasnt concerned. Just said it was probably a bit of placenta (Im sure they said it was complete at delivery) but wrote me a script for antibiotics in case.

Will mention it to my consultant next week when I go for the post mortem results.
