I just had a laparoscopy on wed for an ectopic pregnancy which resulted in me losing my right tube! I got out of hospital today but the pains under my ribs and in my shoulder are agony, I was told to expect this as they had to fill me full of gas before op but dear goodness me! Does anyone have any remedies to relieve these symptoms?

Hi lily,

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember the pain from my lap very well. Mine was in the shoulder. I actually accused the doctor of breaking my armBlush I was told it would just take time for the gas to work its way out of the body. I was also given pain killers for the incision. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Peppermint water with hot water.

Definitely peppermint capsules dissolved in warm water. It works really quickly. The pain in the shoulder is the weirdest and most uncomfortable thing. It's like you've slept funny x100. You will start to shift the gas naturally but the peppermint water will work wonders.

I'm really very sorry indeed. What a tough time for you. Take things as slowly as you need to.

I found peppermint tea and a lot of groaning helped

Peppermint oil in hot water or colpermin tablets worked for me.

And don't forget the power of groaning! Feel better soon..
