Apologies for the long title and post. I am after some advice from anyone who has experienced the same.
Briefly was unknowingly pregnant I estimated at least 3 months hurriedly went for a scan to show a missed miscarriage but as had no idea of date due to breastfeeding so had to be rescanned 10 days later. No change nurse offered me a operation to clear it out by keyhole surgery (couldn't really understand what she was meaning). Having already experienced 2 natural miscarriages one at 8 wk and one at 6.5 in the 3 years between my children I opted for natural management. I started to bleed the next day the egg sac expelled the next day although different to previous experiences as this had no foetus in and was more like a piece of liver. After 3 weeks blood loss began to get lighter and I thought it was ending ( both previous miscarriages I had bleed for 3 weeks) then it got heavier again until one day at work at week 5 I had excessive bleeding again all through the pad and my clothes then passed two liver type lumps again. Rang my EPU and they advised me to go to A&E after 7 hours find myself in EPU and confirmed cervix open and retained product as bleeding lighter I was allowed home and booked in for a scan the next morning. The scan showed nothing left although the sonographer said there may be tiny particles or possible polyps. Nurse signed me off and that was 3 weeks ago. keep thinking it is ending and possibly my period overlapping. Yesterday for the first time I experienced light spotting and thought this was it but today I have passed another clot about an inch square and light bleeding again. I am getting so fed up with this both mentally and physically and want to put this sad episode behind me. I've made an appointment with my doctor but will not be seen for a while. I never experienced any clots in period after both miscarriages or both births.

This happened to me and as it was my first miscarriage I thought it was normal to bleed and pass clots for weeks and so did my GP apparently. Eventually I saw a gynae who gave me medication to stop it all. Sorry can't remember name of it but make an appointment to see a gynaecologist if possible. EPU were no help to me, nor were A&E or my GP.

Sorry to hear you've been through it too. Thanks for the advice, it helps hearing it from someone else as it doesn't make me feel like I am going Crazy!

I have just had a similar experience and found my GP not at all helpful. I would call NHS 111 and get them to refer you to a gynecologist. I also found it easier to call out of hours as you are most likely to be referred rather than advised to see your GP.

Had an appointment with GP this morning who was quite helpful although its not going to be a quick fix by any means. She gave me an exam to check for infection, which i haven't got at the moment although have to ring for results in a week, has booked me in for another scan although I have to wait to hear though the post for an appointment and then ring for the results a week after that. She said I may end up having a d&c depending on the results. Can only hope it stops by itself in that time. Thanks for your advice.
