slow embryonic heart rate

Hi anyone who's reading this

I went for an early scan this week due to a history of ectopic (Nov 2012).

When they did the scan they saw a heartbeat but said it was slower than they would like and that I have to come back on Monday. The embryo was only 5mm long, which puts it at 6.1. I thought I was 6.5.

Does anyone have any experience of this? The nurse said it was 50/50 whether it would survive. The other bad thing is I had terrible nausea last week but since Tuesday it has gone :(

So sorry to read this and pray that everything turns out ok. Sending all positive energies your way for your next scan. The size sounds ok to me, I was told that I was 6 weeks when the embryo measured 3.3mm. It's supposed to be one milimetre for every day after 6 weeks I believe. I think they may go by sac size too. Maybe someone else knows more about the heart rate issue. xx

Being in limbo and being worried that things are going wrong is horrible Flowers
6 weeks is when they expect to first see a heartbeat, so if you are within a few days of your expected dates and there is a heartbeat there I think that's reason to be positive.

I had scan at 7.4 with my last pregnancy and no embryo visible, then at 8.4 there was a slow heartbeat, miscarried at 9.2, but the main worry there was it was so far behind my dates which I was certain about.

Offering a hand to hold over the weekend and crossing everything for good news for you on Monday.

The waiting is awful, I know. I had a suspected ectopic early in my pregnancy. Everything turned out ok and on a scan at 6 weeks we found a fetal pole and heartbeat. Fetus measured 3.4 mm and I found on a website - I will try find you the link - that they the fetal pole grows 1 mm every day after 6 weeks, so I was placed at 6+3. So you would be 6+5 as your fetus was 5 mm if that makes sense?
