Practical MC advice please

I'm now 8.5 weeks, have had two early scans which showed very little development and no HB. This morning my morning sickness has faded so I think my MC will probably start today/tomorrow.

It'll be my 4th MC and each time I've always used sanitary pads as I have it in my head that you can't use tampons when MCing but now I'm doubting myself, wondering if this is just an old wive's tale.

I don't live in UK so don't have access to an EPU.

Does anyone know if I can in fact use tampons?

I was told by the MW and nurses definitely NOT to use tampons.

Pretty sure its because your cervix is still open / closing slowly so the risk of infection from old blood in a tampon and bacterial growth is much higher than when you have a period and your cervix is closed.
