Sadly, I was diagnosed with a MMC last week when I should have been 11 weeks; the baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks. I started bleeding naturally the day after and had a scan at the EPU yesterday which confirmed that the old pregnancy had been passed completely.
But they found something strange on the scan that they could not identify. The sonographer at first said it looked like a four week pregnancy, but of course that shouldn't be possible. She said she had rarely seen anything that looked like it before. She asked another sonographer, a junior doctor, and a senior doctor to look at it too. The general consensus was that it might be a resolving fibroid or cyst, or possibly (1 in 100,000 chance) a dual pregnancy that had developed ectopically. I've got to go back in two weeks for another scan.
I was surprised that they didn't take any bloods, so I did a home pg test today which was positive, but I know that is to be expected at this stage.
So I'm a bit scared about what this mystery object may be, and wondered if anyone else had a similar experience? Surely if it was a fibroid it would be fairly common and recognisable?
