am a bit Blush asking this

i had a medically managed MC at the weekend, and already feeling a lot better (physically, at least) and have almost stopped bleeding

the nurse told us to avoid sex till after AF returns, which i was a bit shocked about, as it seems a long time?

i dont want to TTC again for a few months anyway, and obviously you are not meant to until after a couple of cycles, so we would be using condoms, so surely that would minimise the risk of infection etc?

I was told 6 weeks.

I left it 2 weeks following ERPC. I would presume that you are told to wait as the cervix is open so there is a risk of infection, however I only waited 4 weeks after giving birth to my son so wasn't going to leave it a long time if I felt ready! We just took things gently, it was a little uncomfortable at first but if it had hurt we would have stopped.

ok thank you

a couple of quite different timescales!

i didnt have an ERPC, i had the tablets and had to stay in hospital until they were sure i had passed the sac etc (which was sunday), not sure if that makes a difference

I wasn't told how long I had to leave it, just said when I felt ready.

I was told after the bleeding had "fully stopped" and on all the leaflets it also says this (nhs and miscarriage association ones were given to me). This is due to infection risk. For TTC it varies, most docs like 1 full cycle and also the check it isn't molar after an ERPC. As far as I know that is the standard advice (sadly having had 3 I kind if know it off by heart now).

aww squizita i am so sorry to hear you have had 3 :(

yeah thats what i would have thought (after the bleedings stopped)
