MMC or wrong dates?

Hi all,

Would like some advice as to whether this is a missed MMC or not?

First date of last period was 4/12/12 which puts me at 11 weeks. 2 weeks ago I had some spotting so GP referred me for early scan where sonographer said could detect a 5 week sac and come back in 2 weeks. So just had 2nd scan & sonographer said could detect a 6 week foetus in an unusually large sac but there was a heartbeat. They haven't booked me in for another scan, just advised me now to wait for dating scan. The midwife asked if I had a period at end of Dec as dates are so out - I said no but they still didn't seem concerned. Should I be? Me dates put me at 11 weeks but foetus measuring 6. I still gave light brown spotting.

If anyone can give me advice or has been through a similar situation I would love to hear from you.

With my dd I thought I was 12 weeks when was only about 5, turns out due to sometimes having irregular periods I'd happened to miss one just before falling pregnant. Wait for dating scan and see what they say. Babies develop at a very specific rate. Bleeding/spotting may have been due to implantation. Good luck x

Thanks for the reply. Up Oct '12 I was having regular periods but then went 7 weeks without having one (stress at work was suggested by GP) so am hoping its because of that. Have already got a dd 19 months and I panicked throughout the first 12 weeks with her, hoping its just my imagination again x

It is isn't it? Friends have recommended booking in for a private scan which I think I'll do, my dating scan isn't til 28th March and I can't wait that long! DH keeps telling me not to worry as the way he sees it the sonographer saw a heartbeat and as they wouldn't book another scan then there can't be anything to worry about. All I keep thinking about is the discrepancy with the dates - how could I be that out? Have you got a scan booked Mrs? The waiting is horrendous :(

I think I would want another before then!! I guess the heartbeat is reassuring but another scan would be even more so!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I've got mine booked next tues, ugh, it's not even the end of this tues yet!!

I might go back to my GP tomorrow & if he won't refer me I'll book in privately. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too. It'll be a long week I know but try and keep yourself busy and think positively ... now if I could only take my own advice!

Sounds like a good plan!! If I advise you the same we can take each others advice and ignore our own!!

CaliBee first BFP was 19th January. Had left it til I was over a week late as before then I had a period at end of Oct but then not another til beginning of Dec.

Mrs - don't know what is at end of my message. Stupid iPhone!

Well even with a BFP on the 19th that would just fit with the dates songrapher is saying. Fingers crossed its just you ovulated much later than expected.

I'm glad if your bfp was 19/1 and you're measuring bigger than me i'm def out!! You're my only hope now no one has replied to my thread so I shall stay here if that's ok?!

Hello, I can't really add much useful info. But I'm going through similar hideous wait to find out if have had mmc at 5 weeks, or if something miraculous has happened to my dates. My bfp was 24th Jan, LMP 26th Dec. I had scan last wed, should be 7 weeks, and measured 4 to 5 , no heart beat.

I'm worn out trying to analyse dates, symptoms, size of my belly and all the rest. To think, this was a reassurance scan after previous miscarriage. Was doing OK in blissful ignorance! but I suppose its best to find out now than later...

Morning Mrs - please hang around. We need to give each other as much moral support as possible. Friends in RL are fab but until someone is actually going through it what they say seems to be just words!

Goosey - I know, I'm doing the same. Keep looking at my stomach & seeing a bump & my boobs seem to have got bigger but maybe I'm just hoping they are!! Fed up of looking at my calendar & counting. I also think if I hadn't gone for that first scan cos of the spotting I wouldn't be thinking any of this!

Going to my GP today to ask for another scan - wish me luck!

Ooh, good luck, and yes, bloody boobs, they are the only part of me that feels preg! They are huge and painful but I just can't bring myself to buy any new bras

Just to update I had a transvaginal scan today & no foetus was detected. Have to wait for another week as last week's scan detected another heartbeat. Feeling very lost.
