Pregnant again after miscarraige

Just found out I'm pregnant again after having a miscarraige in November at 11 weeks. Scared witless that it will happen again and not sure how to cope until the danger time is over. Any advice from mum's out there who've gone through this too???

I have also been through this but it was in november 2004 i had my mc, i fell pregnant again in the april & i now have a goregous 3 month old dd.

I know exactly how you feel & to be honest there is not much you can do to stop you worrying, just try & relax & think positive thats what i did.

CONGRATULATIONS & goodluck for the coming months Smile

congratulations! But I know it can be hard to celebrate. I'm in the same boat - pregnant, and also after a miscarriage at 11 weeks last year.

If you wander over to the pregnancy board, there's a very supportive pregnancy after miscarriage thread - everyone has been through the same thing, and so will completely understand all the fears and worries. Just reading it and knowing that some people are now at 36 weeks, is a great support in itself.

And can you get your EPU or hospital to give you extra support? I got an early scan at 8 weeks, precisely because I was so worried that it would happen again. And my EPU had a lovely midwife counsellor whom you could ring up and she would reassure me that the risks were no higher than normal second time around, which really helped.

Congratulations! :)
I got pg 3 months after a miscarriage and ds is now 11 months. :) I found most of the pg very difficult due to worry, but I did find it helped to take one day/week at a time - now I'm 6 weeks, now I'm 8 weeks, and so on - and to have some reassurance scans.

Daisybump........

Just for your ingo there is a pregnancy after miscarraige support thread. The people on there are of great support. Come and join us. Smile

Cheers everyone, it's nice to hear from mums who've been in the same situation. DH has been great and although he tells me not to worry, don't think he fully understands. I'll drop into the support thread sometime soon. I've posted on the "due December" thread....Oinker I hope everything is OK :)

Daisy - as 2cats and oinker say the \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=49&threadid=146265&stamp=060418142024#3449539\pregnancy after miscarriage thread} is great for support or just someone to chat to. Hope you post there!

hello, i have just found out that i am 5 weeks pregnant again after having a miscarriage in January. i am very very happy but equally scared. anyone out there been in the same situation?

jamiesam · 18/04/2006 21:51

As well as the thread linked by mygirllolipop, I also found the section in the Mumsnet book on pregnancy, on being pregnant after a miscarriage, was helpful in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep. Sometimes it's good to know that other people have had the same fears as you.

By the way, I'm 13 weeks pg, after m/c in December.

Oh, and congratulations!

cupcakes · 18/04/2006 21:59

I've just found out today that I'm pg - also due on the 21st Dec but that's a bit provisional as I don't have a last period date to work oit out from - I miscarried last month and haven't had a period since.
Rather nervous to say the least, especially as I don't feel v pg.

cece · 18/04/2006 22:06

Oh I am really pleased for you cupcakes! Grin

Did you do a test? How did you know to do the test?

cupcakes · 19/04/2006 07:50

I was v tired and peeing a lot! Plus my boobs went funny.
It's weird talking about it on here as we've decided not to tell anyone in RL till we get the all clear.

cece · 19/04/2006 13:30

I miscarried last month and have ignored the two months before ttc as well. Do you think the doc will tell you off as it is supposed to be a problem dating the pg. I thought the scanner coudl do it in a matter of mins!?

cupcakes · 19/04/2006 13:44

The woman I saw at the EPAU said there was no reason why we had to wait for a period as it only affected their dating. There was no physical reason to wait.

cece · 19/04/2006 14:43

That's what I thought so I have ignored what they told me! They said to wait 2 months befoe TTC - as I am 39 already not soemthing I want to do. Also they said to wait 3 weeks before having sex. What did they tell you about that?

twocatsonthebed · 19/04/2006 15:06

cece - my EPU told me that it didn't matter at all if I conceived straight afterwards - the dating thing is for their convenience! (And I was in exactly the same pos as you, miscarried at 39). All they said about sex was wait until you've stopped bleeding - but I had a natural miscarriage with no need for an operation.

cece · 19/04/2006 15:10

oh that is Ok then as I had no bleeding apart from about 2 hours on day 5 after op! (I ran for a bus)

AngFam · 15/05/2007 14:39

Hey everyone...it seems the general consensus is that there is no need to wait before TTC after MC and D&C? I was told that I should wait for 3 months before trying again!!!

poppy34 · 16/05/2007 20:25

think 3 months thing is more a mental thing than physical - was asking midwife (and my dad who is a gp) about it . Think its a personal thing if you feel like ttc or not
