referral - really confused

Hi - need a bit of advice
Went to see gp last week after second mc (first was 14.5 weeks, second 7-8 weeks)
We asked for a referral, she said they's probably say no until 3 miscarriages.
Have received a letter saying that we have a referral, however it's at another hospital and it with gynaecology and it's only for me.
I thought we had asked for a referral for dh and me to the recurrent miscarriage clinic.
I don't know what to do now, feel like it's going to be a complete waste of time...

Hi stmalo, sorry for your losses :-( i have had 2 mmc and was told in no uncertain terms i couldnt see anybody until i'd had 3. In the end i went privately for a consultation, we got a lot of questions answered and she agreed to do some tests but i've been transferred back to nhs so i don't have to pay. The tests i've had done were only for me she said chromosome tests etc werent necessary at this stage and they rarely show anything anyway so probably wouldn't doanything like that until further down the line (hopefully wont come to that). So i think what they are doing with you is pretty standard it wont be a waste of time, i think its good to go beacause then you will be "under" a specialist from then on and they will be your port of call rather than gp thats what my consultant told me. Some hospitals will accept referals after 2 losses but the in my experience the larger renouned hospital's (liverpool womens, st mary's london ) you have to have had 3 losses.
Go to the appt they will do some testing, we have had 5, 12 week mc and dh was never tested possibly as they identified a couple of issues with me!
I am very sorry to hear about your miscarriages and hope that the appt goes well.
