Hi.my dsil is currently having arough time. Medically managed mc over four weeks ago. Hospital refused a d and c-she is overseas. She lost twins. Since then been bleeding a lit. Was rushed into hospital with a massive bleed a week ago. Since then had five big bleeds-soak a maternity pad in ten secs. Docs dont seem to want to do anything. My experience of mc was erpc flllowed by a few days of light bleeding then period came three weeks later so i am not much help. Really want to support her as much as i can. Any ideas as to why she is still bleeding so heavily? Cheers

Hi Kiwi - that doesn't sound at all normal to me. I had medical management for an incomplete miscarriage (i.e. I was bleeding before hand but had not passed everything) I had 2 days of heavy bleeding then about 3 weeks of light bleeding or spotting (less than a period). I'm not an expert but the problems I've had with heavy bleeding in a previous miscarriage have been to do with something being left behind preventing the womb from contracting down properly and allowing bleeding from attachment sites to continue. I would imagine infection could cause similar problems. I think she needs to stamp her feet until she is taken seriously and gets another scan or tests. Difficult for you to do anything other than offer emotinal support from far away, it must be frustrating for you.

Cheers baking. Think she has just been given some antibiotocs so hopefully they will work.
