Advice re viability of pregnancy/miscarriage

Hi - I wonder if anyone can offer me any advice or has any experience they can help me with. I thought I was pregnant and dated myself at about 7.5 weeks due to when my last period was and when I know I must have got pregnant (having small twins, it is quite rare!).

I have had some bleeding this week and eventually went for a scan today. This showed a sac with an embryo of only 3mm, apparently this could be no more than 6 weeks. The radiographer said that there was flickering on the screen that coudl have been a heartbeat but it was inconclusive as the whole screen flickers. She asked me if my dates coudl be wrong but I dont think they can. I definitely got pregnant at the end of Feb (26th) so would have to be at least 7 weeks by now surely?

She said that either my dates are wrong or the embryo stopped growing at 6 weeks. I have to wait a week and go back for another scan.

Has anyone had anything similar and what was the outcome? I am praying that I am wrong but I think I know that the pregnancy is no longer viable.

Hopng someone can help.

WE live in London. Dh has been to Harrogate a few times on conference and for meetings! He says it is very nice.

yes it is lovely, a nice place to live, I think I would be like a fish out of water in a big city, sounds really stupid but you know what I mean!!

It is lovely and sunny here this morning I have been out in the back garden with the DTs taking rocks out of a watering can and putting them in a bucket, then the other way round, then the other way round etc etc.....they are now busy looking at each other through a glass door and laughing, its taking my mind of things in a very nice way!!

Well I am off to visit my friend who has snapped her Achilles tendon. She is in a full leg plaster so is stuck on the sofa. Poor thing.

harrogatemum · 08/04/2006 10:48

oh god, what a nightmare!

DH and I are going away for the night, I am looking forward to it but will miss the boys lots, even though its only one night! I am rubbish at being away from them. It will be a bit strange as not knowing if I am still pregnant or not I will still have to steer clear of all the things I love to eat (blue cheese, rare steak etc) as well as having no wine!

Hope you had a nice night away HM. My poor friend is stuck on the sofa - day and night - for the next 3 weeks. She can't get up the stairs and can only just manage to hobble to the loo. Then she gets a half leg plaster cast! She seems so fed up.

loubaby · 10/04/2006 16:24

excellent news :)

kid · 11/04/2006 15:24

just read the whole of this thread and its great that the scan gave you the good news you wanted. (It was also good to be able to read it all and see the good outcome rather than having to wait 7-10 days like you had too)

cece · 11/04/2006 15:31

That's greatSmile Have left a message on the other thread as well!

wools · 11/04/2006 17:33

That is fantastic news. I am so pleased for you. What a relief.

desperatehousewife · 11/04/2006 18:03

bloody fantastic! Well done. Breathe big sigh of relief and relax!

cece · 11/04/2006 18:19

Did they have an explanation for all of the bleeding?

nicmum2boys · 11/04/2006 23:43

Just wanted to say - so pleased for you. You must be so relieved.
Congratulations!

harrogatemum · 12/04/2006 10:30

They didnt really have an explanation re the bleeding although they did say it could be what they used to call an erosion on the cervix - it has a new name now, like an ectoplasm but slightly different!!!

And I know that I have one of htese as I always bleed at smear tests but had never even considered it to be that at all - they said it could be that but not definitively.

Cece - I have CAT you as well - did you receive my email?

HM
no but I think you have to have paid up to get them don't you Blush

Keep meaning to sort that out..........
Will try to do it later today Shock

You must be feeling soooo relieved. Smile

harrogatemum · 12/04/2006 10:52

Hi Cece - I think you only have to pay to send them surely (which I have done previously) - a bit ridiculous if they expect you to pay to receive them! I will contact Mumsnet HQ!!
