AF post erpc / d&c... question!

Hi ladies

I had a missed mc around 8 weeks, picked up on scan at 10.5 weeks. I waited a week and since I didn't go on to miscarry naturally I opted to have erpc / d&c done on Tues 31st July. I have pcos so sometimes my cycles are irregular and they are a bit on the long side, but generally speaking they usually last 33 days so AF should have been due on Friday or Saturday, so it's 3 or 4 days later.

We were kind of ttc again this month (half heartedly) so I took a hpt last week on Wed I think and it was BFN. So I've been waiting for AF to show up since then. Last night I was out at the cinema and I kept having to shift about in my seat since my back was feeling sore and when I went to the loo I had some light bleeding. I've been bleeding on and off since erpc but I had only had trace amounts of bleeding over the last week, mostly mixed with cm (sorry tmi), so last night was the first kind of fresh bleeding I'd had. But even that was not heavy, was mixed with CM and wasn't the kind of bright red colour that you normally get with AF.

Still, I thought AF must have arrived a couple of days late....but there's been no more bleeding since that little bit last night Hmm

What's going on? Is that AF? Do I count yesterday as CD1 or is this just more post-mc wtf weirdness?

Anyone any experience of this at all? It's doing my head in!! Thank you :)

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It can take a while for your body to get back to normal after a loss, sometimes it can take several months. However if you get a similar light period next month then I'd ask your GP to arrange for an HSG to check for Ashermans. I don't mean to scare you, and it probably isn't Ashermans but there is a massive lack of knowledge of this risk from having a D&C, and so something to keep in the back of your mind. Have a look at www.ashermans.org if you need any additional information. Fingers crossed everything will settle down after a few more weeks and you can start TTC again Smile

wow, I'd never even heard of this - I knew there was a slight risk of scarring / tearing with a D&C but I had no idea there was a syndrome. Thanks for the info helenlouisey

Hello. Sorry for your loss.

My cycles are always a bit messed up after a mc so don't worry too much. I'm currently having my 1st period after a natural mc in July. I had brown spotting for 2 days before at started properly.

Fwiw I've had 2 d&cs after mc and as far as I know don't have ashermans and my cycles haven't been adversely affected (although I also have pcos). If I were you I'd give it a bit of time as it can take a while for things to settle down.

It is so stressful because you just want to get back to normal! After all of my mc I have panicked about my cycles and convinced myself I have ashermans. My consultant said that even having no period for 3 months was normal after a mc. I also get brown spotting when my hormones are settling down. Good luck with it all.

I think AF is going to arrive for me today, feel very crampy and sore. Its been 38 days so just a little bit short.of 6 weeks since erpc - hopefully cycles will sort of settle a bit now. Thanks for your reassurance!
