hi, I have a question, I keep forgetting to ask doctors, but I have the feeling they just won't know or I'll get the brush off (mc are so common, it's just bad luck etc etc)

I had a mmc last year, discovered at the 12 wk scan, the baby had died at 10wks. The pg seemed to be going well, I had lots of symptoms, until 8wks and I suddenly had a very strange experience. I had lots of patterns in front of my eyes, so I could hardly see, it lasted about 30 mins. I've never had anything like it before in my life. The GP said if it happens again go to the local eye hospital. From then on the pg didn't seem quite right but as I didn't have any cramps or bleeding I thought it must ok (fool!)

I just wondered if anyone else had had anything similar or knew anything about it?

YES!! The doctor called it visual migraine. I haven't had it for years now but I did get it during pregnancy - a bit like frosted glass or raindrops down a window pane for me. I usually started with me thinking "OOh i need my glasses on cos i couldn't read properly and then the middle of my vision seemed to go with the "frosted glass effect" round the edges - usually lasted 20 mins with no pain whatso ever. My daughter and husband also have had this happen to them during periods of stress (O levels - job problems etc) The treatment was an anti migraine remedy for them. Sorry for your loss - I lost a baby in similar circumstances - died at 8 but not realised until i had a scan - but I know I had the migraine thing in successful pregnancies too

thanks so much for your reply. I've never had anything like it before, don't even get headaches, so I just connected it with the baby dying. You just try and find a reason for it, I suppose. Thanks again.

Hi tas I had this and was told it was a migraine as well. The only thing I would say is that in later pregnancy it could be a sign of pre-eclampsia so just keep an eye on it and let your midwife/GP know. Take care x
