Had a scan today and found out I've had a missed miscarriage.

I thought I was 12 weeks but apparently the baby died at about 6 weeks. It didn't look like a baby on the ultrasound which helps.
Am quite numb and in shock at the moment. Have decided to wait a week and see if nature takes it course and I miscarry properly. If not I have to go in next Tuesday and decide whether to take the pills or go straight for the operation.
Think I may be on the verge of bleeding as I feel very pre-periody.

Oh so sorry Cupcakes, cannot imagine what you must be going through Sad

prettybird · 28/02/2006 15:48

So sorry.

I've had two missed misacrriages. If it helps, I was told that about the first one, where I should have been 11/12 weeks and the scan showed 7 weeks, that it hadn't necessarily happened 5 weeks before. The sac can start to collapse which makes it look smaller - and that was confirmed at the gollowup scan nearly a week later, when it got smaller still.

Remember you will feel teary and hormonal for a while to come - even after nature has taken its course or you have had the operation.

Look after yourself - and allow yourself time to grieve.

Thank you for your messages. I did have a suspicion that all was not well just yesterday. I've been having niggly back pains since Thursday which felt rather periody then yesterday there was a small amount of blood left in the bath. So it wasn't a huge surprise.
I haven't felt very pregnant for a couple of weeks now but had initially assumed that it was because I was entering the second trimester.
Am rather nervous about what happens next and how much pain and medical intervention there is going to be. Really wish it was all finished.

SO sorry to hear this cupcakes. I had a missed miscarriage almost a year ago now. You will find lots of support on mumsnet.

Coathanger · 28/02/2006 16:16

Cupcakes :( I'm so sorry to hear this. It just isn't fair :(

There seems to be a lot of this kind of thing happening right now and it seems just too cruel.

I have had a miscarriage (at 7 weeks in August) and it was so horrible. But you must take your time and look after yourself.

Sending you love and hope xxxxxx

Sad So so sorry to hear hun. I went through exactly the same last April (thought I was 11 wks and the baby had died at 8 wks). I to left it a few days then had the erpc as I was'nt mc naturally. Please look after yourself and give yourself time. Thinking of you & your family xxxxxxx
TambaTheDragonSlayer · 28/02/2006 16:31

So sorry Sad

HellKat · 28/02/2006 16:31

Btw regarding medical intervention. If you decide to have it done (the erpc) there's not too much pain after (just bad period pain) and there's some bleeding. There's advantages with both natural and medical. Go through your options and make the decision that's right for you.
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

OldieMum · 28/02/2006 16:33
