Hi everyone I am 6/7 weeks pregnant and I am going to the EPU on Tuesday as I've had a tiny bit of spotting (twice) after sex. This only lasted for a minute or two and was gone. I've also been having some brown discharge on and off but only when I wipe. I've been feeling really really nauseous for the last two weeks, have sore breasts, need to wee a lot and have been extremely tired. I've been googling like mad and I know that I could be having a miscarriage but equally, everything could be fine. I'm just finding it so hard waiting to find out. I desperately don't want to lose this baby.

Hi Woody. Just a quick message to say I hope everything is okay for you. My early miscarriages began with light brown discharge but it didn't go away at all and turned into proper bleeding within a day or two. I think there is always reason to be optimistic, especially at around 6 weeks when your body could just be sorting itself out and the embryo bedding in. But it's impossible to know as everyone's different.

I really sympathise with the fear and uncertainty and the just wanting to know and not being able to think about anything else! If I was there again I think I would just try to keep busy and go on as normal, which isn't easy if you're trying not to drink, do too much exercise etc. Doctor told me to rest when I started bleeding, but I'm not sure if that can really help. Doesn't hurt to look after yourself and treat yourself though. My EPU was brilliant and the midwives really lovely. I hope they are for you on Tuesday and also that your mind is put at rest and everything is okay. It's definitely not all over so try not to worry too much. My fingers are crossed for you.

Sorry you're going through this worry woody.

I have had 3 pregnancies resulting in 2 mcs and IME nauseous, morning sickness symptoms are a good sign that the pregnancy is progressing well.

Hope this will be the case for you.

Big hugs x

Hi woody, hope your bearing up
I have had both, first pg resulting in healthy dd had some brown spotting very light and it was fine. The first thing I was asked by mw was was it after dtd so I imagine that's common and a good sign for you?!
Second time it unfortunatly mc and it did start off with brown spotting but was quite obvious in pants, this continued on and off for 2 days but on the third went to red then I knew it was a bad sign! I think you will not have peace until your scan but from what you've said there's every reason to still be optimistic, I know more people with spotting in pg then not actually although I know the fear that comes with seeing it, take care of yourself and try to rest as much as pos x

Hi Woody,
I had some brown bleeding at the start of my last pregnancy. Went for a scan at EPU to see a strong heartbeat. DD is now 16 weeks and gorgeous!
When I miscarried the blood was red from the start.
Please try to stay positive!

Hi everyone - thanks for all your comments and concern. Well, it went ok yesterday. Basically, I have got my dates wrong and am not as far along as I thought - only 5/6 weeks so although the scan showed everything is at it should be at this point, it was too early to see a heartbeat etc so I have to go back in 10 days. They were brilliant - they reassured me that spotting is very common in early pregnancy and said that if I have any worries, I just need to call them at any time. So, I'm hoping that everything will be fine...although next Friday feels like a long time away!
