Hi, I had a natural miscarriage 3 weeks ago on sunday, I got told to do a hpt 10 days later which was pos but by sunday (2 weeks) has gone to neg, I have been doing ovulation tests since then (didnt want to do then before as I know they can pick up false pregancy hormones) it is however 21 days since miscarriage and as yet no positive ovulation test, did I leave it too late starting at day 15? I usually ovulate 17/18 days in but has anyone found its come earlier/ later for them after miscarriage? we really wanted to ttc asap and will be gutted if i missed the oportunity as ive heard you are more fertile straight after? any ideas? thanks

I've had two miscarriages this year. After each I've taken the first day of a negative HPT as CD1. I don't know if that's right or not, but by doing this my cycles made sense. However, I know that the first few cycles after miscarriage can be very erratic. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi Sandy thanks for that, I was counting cd1 as the day I had a miscarriage and not sure if the hpt would have been neg abit earlier as I only tried the wed and sunday, didnt want to keep re living the results and conflicting messages it has, have you ever used ovulation tests?
what you have said is interesting and the first ive heard of someone counting it from then but it does make sence thanks x

So sorry. Sad
I used OPKs after miscarriage and was 2 weeks later than usual if you count the miscarriage as CD1.
DD1 was conceived during this cycle.
Best of luck.

I know exactly what you meant about HPTs and all the mixed emotions they bring after MC.

I used ovulation tests and found they really worked at pinpointing ovulation but used them in combination with all the other signs too (ewcm, etc). I conceived the first cycle after my first MC but sadly MC again. I'm now into my second cycle after MC no.2 and am trying to find the energy to try again!

Thanks girls, I used opk to concieve and found them really usefull, especially with working shits and my positive days were much later then normal for length of cycle, ill keep persisting with them then and see what happens, its such a whirl wind of emotions isnt it, pregnancy is a funny thing It took me almost 2 years to concieve my little girl and that pregnancy was really smooth sailng even though I was always fearing the worst, second time I got pregnant before first AF had started I was bf so little girl was 9 months and told myself to relax and enjoy this time and sadly mc! id love to get pg fast as want a small age gap between littleones and was so we were so over the moon when I was pg again
keep trying though Sandy, believe me after 2 years of trying round one I found getting the energy each month was dwindeling fast but we got there in the end :)

Sorry for your loss. Been there too. Your first cycle (at least) will be a bit odd. Mine took 3 periods before being normal, then i got another BFP! I found charting really helpful, and looking back at my charts it was very obvious that although I was ovulating my hormones were everywhere. The month I got pg again my chart was absolutely text book.

kittykatsforever · 09/06/2012 20:51

Hi girls, thanks for that, when you say charting what do you mean by it/ do? I have been reading up alot since mc and although I have had the mucas I know I've seen it like that before, I've never associated it with ovulating and I can't remember if I've had any since miss carriage, the first 2 weeks were spent just mourning and waiting for bleeding to stop and getting a neg test, didnt feel I could move on until that but now having read alot of people ovulated quickly like 9-10 days feel I may have missed out, I had natural mc think the loss happened earlie as my hgc level was still high ish when I went in and took 2 weeks for the neg test

Charting means using a special thermometer to take your temp every morning the moment you wake, along with checking mucous and other things if you want. Your temp goes up with the progesterone after ovulation. Google "fertility friend". It is a site with all the info, tutorials and software and apps if you have a smart phone. Very interesting and useful. You need a special bbt thermometer which is a few quid on amazon.
