I'm getting a bit concerned about my bleeding, can someone please advise me?

Hi everyone,

I had a miscarriage at 5/6 weeks just over two weeks ago, they monitored the hcg and confirmed my miscarriage a few days later after thinking it may be ectopic.

I had a few days of spotting (brown sludgy blood, some that looked like brown speckles and a few wipes of red) and now have had apt he almost two weeks of light brown when I wipe only (not enough for a pad.)

At the beginning I was in terrible pain, like terrible period cramps and sharp pain in my side but since then no pain.

My hcg rose for a while, but didn't double, and then dropped from 959 to 550 over a day then to 450 the next day and since then I haven't been monitored.

I'm just worried - shouldn't I have started bleeding properly by now? With a previous miscarriage it was the volume and type of bleeding that was my first symptom. Could something be wrong? I'm not sure what to do...

(sorry if tmi!)

Eagerly awaiting a reply as going crazy.

So sorry for your loss. I am suffering my fourth MC right now so I can empathise with your situation. I had one at 5 weeks and 2 at 6 weeks and they were all very different. If you were closer to five weeks, then my experience was it was much more like a period. My second one at 6 weeks was like a very heavy period but one afternoon was more like labour pains and very painful with lots of larger pieces ( sorry for the tmfi). I had had a baby between my first and second MCs so this may have affected things too. I am currently 12 wks PG with a MMC, found out two weeks ago the sac was empty but still growing. They have told me that after I bleed, I should wait a week and then do a pregnancy test. If it is negative, that is a sign that all the products should have passed. After my first MC at 6 weeks, which started while I was abroad, I attended the EPAU at St Mary's and they scanned me which confirmed my womb had emptied. So I would recommend a PG test, and if that doesn't reassure you, ask for a referral from your GP to the EPAU for a scan to confirm all is as it should be. I ovulated 2 weeks after my last MC at 6 weeks and had my AF 4 weeks after the MC but I understand some people experience longer gaps before their cycle gets back on track. Take care of yourself, gets some ansswers if you need to and hope you feel better soon.
