Anyone had methotrexate injection?

My hcg levels are taking their time to go down. They're now down to 500 (approx 4 wks after told I'd miscarried). I've now been given the option of the methotrexate injection (low dose of chemo drug) to hurry things along or continue with conservative management (ie do nothing and wait and see - just have blood test every week).

Not sure what to do desperate to try again but told both could take a while :( Had anyone had this injection? What was it like and did you have any side effects?

Hi iamci, sorry you are going through this, as if mc's aren't bad enough as it is without dragging on forever and being in limbo land. I am in a similar boat, still have hcg 5 weeks after Erpc. On a good note the conservative management with antibiotics and misoprostol seems to be working. My hcg is now 100, down from 480 a week ago. At what rate is yours going down? Do you have retained products? Are you bleeding at all? Have you tried miso?
I was offered methotrexate but was advised we wouldn't be able to ttc for 3 months which put me off along with the fact it's a hardcore cancer drug. It is supposed to be mega efficient at bringing hcg to zero instantly though. It's hard to know what to do for the best isn't it? Good luck with it all and let me know how you get on.
Jen

Thanks luul, doesn't sound very appetising but I'll give it a try! :)

Jen, that's what's putting me off too. Hcg was continuing up but then starting dropping. Only went down 200 this wk.

They can't see anything at all on scan and no bleeding. Feel fine, just fed up.

Hope yours carry on dropping and get back to normal quickly. It's the waiting to get back to ttc that's hard x
