Hi lovely ladies

do any of you have any experience of being prescribed progesterone from 4 wks, having had one or more early miscarriage and did you then go on to meet your little baby as a result

I'm 41, 2 MC's down and went to see a lovely prof today who is running all the bloods int he world but int he meantime told us to keep trying and as soon as we get there again she wants us on the progesterone to try and make it stick, as at the moment, she thinks we are just unlucky and it could be my eggs (yippee - DH is relieved!)

I'd be interested to hear your stories :)

Thanks all,

Estelle

I took it and Aspirin in 2010 after 2 MCs and an Ectopic and now have a gorgeous baby boy OK he's now a toddler, but still my baby. Am now 6+1 with no. 2 and hoping the Progesterone and Aspirin will work again.

It's kind of gross, but a small price to pay if it works.

Hello,
Sorry to hear about your mc's. I took progesterone in my third pregnancy after having had 2mcs. Unfortunately it didn't work for us this time either, another mmc. It is worth a shot though. I found it less messy if taken rectally, gross I know. I will be taking it next time round but with add ons too (fragmin, steroids and aspirin).

Hi mrsfooty and , thank you for coming back to me.... Pooh we didn't go into the nitty gritty of administration, so it's up that way?! As you say a small price to pay I guess...

Jemimapuddleduck, I really hope your next little baby sticks for you, it's heartbreaking each time xx

Hi Estelle and all

I'm so sorry to hear about everyone's losses.

I wanted to add a link to another thread but am not sure how to do it but try this link:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/miscarriage/a1427311-2-miscarriages-pregnant-again-bleeding-Progesterone

Some of it is about a discsussion I had with Dr Raj Rai who is running the PROMISE progesterone trial.

This link re. the PROMISE study is also interesting (go to the 'plain english summary' bit) as it says a bit about why they think it's worth another study:

www.hta.ac.uk/project/1764.asp

Good luck all.

Hi B, that linkmis really interesting... There is a lot of research that does suggest just being monitored more closely really can help, and no one really knows why...

I'll let you know how I go.. :-) thanks! Xx
