Hospital refusing to scan

Hi, has anyone experienced a natural mc without a scan? I have seen GP today for results of my third blood tests (levels dropping 289 a week ago, 177 thurs, 107 today), but she feels they aren't dropping quickly enough and wants me to have a scan to check for retained products (sorry if this offends), however the hospital have refused to scan me.

I am concerned myself as I still have some pregnancy symptoms and my bleeding did nearly stop but then started again even heavier so I strongly think something could be left and a scan would give me piece of mind as well as closure after this terrible thing.

hope someone out there has been through something similar to put my mind at ease. Thanksxx

So sorry for your loss.
I have had one mc without scan but I also had no bloods but that was because it was early but I had a heavy steady bleed and didn't see the point but in your case it sounds like you should.
Can't understand why hospital is refusing if your GP is referring you, they should just do it!!!
Maybe ask GP to send you to another hospital if that is at all possible.
xx

I've recently been through something similar and with hcg at that level it's likely that they wouldn't be able to see anything, even if they did scan. My problem was that I'd stopped bleeding but my hcg levels were still climbing, so if yours are dropping and you have started bleeding again, I would say you are heading in the 'right' direction. Sorry - I know that none of this is right - but you know what I mean.

So I would say try not too worry - you've been through a horrible ordeal, but it does sound like your body is dealing with things. So sorry for the loss of your baby.

Thanks ladies, just hoping things sort themselves out, will be so glad when the bleeding stops as its just a constant reminder of what's happened.

Sorry for both of your losses xx

Hi

I wasn't scanned after my 2nd mc - I had a pg test at the EPU which showed my levels had dropped significantly and was told to do a test at home and ring results in a week later. I did a test, which was negative, and left it at that. I didn't realise it (!) but I got pg again before my next period - so what I thought was a period was actually another mc - that time they scanned me as I couldn't date it. I am shocked the hospital is refusing to scan you - I wish I had insisted after my second one, but sadly I think they are 'cutting back' which is no help at all to women in your position who are worried and need closure - hope you are ok - make sure you take care of yourself and don't give up hope. xxx
