How long will this MC go on for?

I have had spotting for nearly three weeks and have been bleeding heavily for six days now. I was hoping that when I went in for my scan they would tell me that I had passed everything, but the gestational sac was still there (I am now in my eighth week but it all stopped growing at 5 weeks so it is very small).

Any idea of how long this might go on for? The heavy bleeding is really getting me down and I'm finding it very stressful to commute into work by train/tube especially as there are usually no seats.

Hi,

I'm sorry you are going through this. My experience is similar to Clementines. I spotted brown blood about a week and a half after my missed mc was diagnosed. Leading up to the day of the actual mc the potting turned heavier and into a medium period. The it was very heavy on the day of the mc with large clots. I had contractions and passed lots and blood for a period of about 3 hours. Two weeks later the bleeding has stopped and today is the first day that I have not bled. Over this time t has steadily decreased and turned brown nd into spotting before it stopped. If you are worried in any way call your epac and they can advise. They might offer you the medical management option if you would like to speed things up, or even an erpc xx

Thank you so much Clementine and ruthleskangaroo for sharing your experiences. I hope you're both managing ok now xx

Well, after eight days of pretty heavy bleeding (so much I was quite concerned) it has slowed down now and I am just spotting. Really really hoping I have passed the sac -I passed lots of big clots the whole way through but was totally thrown when they scanned me and said I hadn't passed the sac yet. So I'm hoping that I have now. Argh.

Isn't it funny how I really wanted it to stick SO SO much and now I can't wait for it all to be gone.

bee1983 - I am in a similar situation to yours - I have been going through a MC for just over two weeks and am hoping that it is nearly over. I thought I surely had passed everything (I was given Misoprostol and it was like a horror movie for a few hours) but just the gestational sac remained when I was scanned. I have waited another week and a few days and will go for another scan this week but I'm pretty nervous that it still hasn't passed. I will probably have a D&C at that point because I don't think I can wait it out anymore.

Please update on your situation if you can.
