I have now had 2 mc 1st a mmc at 12wk 2nd at 6wks and now ttc again, I have read a few people saying bout early scans at about 8wks, is this just in US or do they do it in UK as well for people who have had mc before?
Or is it only availiable in UK if on fertility treatment?
if can be done in UK,Do I need to ask as soon as I get pregnant again?
Who do I need to ask GP or midwife?
Thanks for any advise/help on the matter x
Thanks

To be honest, its pretty hard to get an early scan until you've had more than 3 miscarriages. Depending on your local EPAU, they may be nice to you and do one if you ask your gp or midwife. Otherwise, you can find a private clinic to do a scan for you - I paid for a private one after 2 mcs

I had an early scan (at 8 weeks) but paid privately for it. It was £30 (an extra £5 if you wanted a picture), it was worth the money just for reassurance. I dont think they do it on the NHS, not where I live anyway. I'm in the Midlands.

I've had early scans with subsequent pregnancies after my first one was ectopic but this is obviously for a very specific reason. Ask your GP, some areas might be nice and do it to reassure.

It depends where you live I imagine. I am in London and UCLH has a walk in clinic where you just turn up and wait to be seen, whether you have had prior miscarriages or you are just worried. It is a fantastic service but maybe only available at large hospitals in big cities?

Depends on where you live/your trust/your GP/your EPU.

A friend of mine has had one miscarriage, is pregnant with her second and has had two early scans, one at 6 weeks and one at 9 weeks, already.

I had a mc in Sept and they told me at the EPAU that I can phone them at around 6 weeks if I get pregnant agian and they'll do a scan, think I must be very lucky with the hospital.

I was given s early scan after having a previous mc but I was a wreck! Think gp pitied me. A private one around here herts will be about 30 £ but well worth it

Well will defo ask my GP etc as I've had a look and cheapest I can find in my area (south Manchester) is around 90 pounds! So if anyone knows somewhere better in this area also would be great to let me know xx Many thanks x

EPUs will scan you if you call them direct (self refer) , just explain why you are so worried. I'd wait till 8 weeks as once a hb is seen m/c rate reduces dramatically.

My GP offered to send me for an early scan as soon as I went to her with my PG (this was a few years ago). By my dates I was 8 weeks at scanning and initially couldn't find much until a trans vaginal dated me at 7 weeks. This was in Oxford
