Any advice? Bleeding, empty sac, possibly 2 sacs at scan (approx 5wks).

I have posted before re late ovulation and having spotting. Yesterday I had a sharp pain then cramps and quite a heavy bleed, about the same as a fairly heavy period. This lasted about an hour then since then just spotting.

I had a scan this morning which showed 2 sacs, 1 larger than the other. I was told the second sac could be a failed twin prenancy or a bleed behind the larger sac and that it was hard to tell. The larger sac was approx the right size but empty.

The hospital has me dated at 6 weeks, I think I am 5 due to erratic periods. I have to go back on the 13th for a rescan.

Has anyone had a scan at 5/6 weeks after a bleed and had an empty sac and gone on to have an ok pregnancy?

If there had been a yolk sac in the larger sac that would be more reassuring but it is very early yet and since you think you are only 5 weeks or so, the yolk sac is often only seen at the end of that week and the embryo at 6 weeks or more. Unfortunately you are in the stage of pregnancy where it is very very hard to tell, even with ultrasound. There are plenty of stories of people who had an empty sac early on but then at 7 weeks they went for a rescan and saw a heartbeat. I know the waiting is the absolute worst time but there is still hope and unfortunately there is nothing else to do but wait and see. Good luck!
