medically managed miscarriage - how long did you bleed afterwards?

Sorry if TMI!

I had a medically missed miscarriage about 2 weeks ago.
Today I went for a scan to check it had all gone - but there was still some 'product' left. So I have to go back for another scan in two weeks.

Had really hoped it would be over by now! :(

Just wanted to ask if anyone had had a similar experience?

Thanks.

first of all, i am sorry for your loss. its a horrid thing to happen. x

i had one many years ago so may not be up to date but i ended up having op (called erpc) as i bled for weeks afterwards. i think it depends on how many weeks you were but generally should be like heavy but normal-ish period.

Hi there

I was supposed to have a medically managed miscarriage, but started to miscarry on my own. That was 8 weeks ago and I'm still bleeding. I went to the EPU 3 weeks ago and had the pessaries to open my cervix to get rid of the 2.5cm piece of remaining tissue. I'm not sure that it worked as there wasn't any heavier bleeding -if anything there was less, but I'm still bleeding on and off. Very confusing as I thought it was a period, but now I'm not so sure. At least I had a negative pregnancy test finally after 6 weeks so there must be an end to it soon. It's hard to deal with it emotionally when your body is still holding on to it, isn't it?

Sorry that it's not more positive, but you posted a while ago so perhaps you've stopped now. I'm sorry that it happened to you and hope you feel better soon.

Hi Op, sorry you are going through this shite time.

I had medical management in april after a mmc at eleven weeks. I bled for two weeks heavily, three weeks of nothing, then bled for three months! I have had scans, tests, no answers but in the last few weeks it seems to have sorted itself out. If in doubt, keep going back to your doctor. I felt like a nuisance but the doctor at my local epu said I was right to keep going!
