I suppose I'm writing this as a cautionary tale to others unfortunate enough to suffer a MMC. I discovered I'd had a MMC at my 12 week scan at the end of March. I decided to have medical management, which didn't work, so ended up with an ERPC in early April. After 6 wk I did a pregnancy test, which was positive, but I suspected something was wrong so went to my GP. She did a blood test for hCG concentration and found it was too low to indicate a viable pregnancy. A repeat hCG a week later was a bit lower, but still positive. She referred me for a scan today and it seems there is still 'something' there (sadly not a nice, normal pregnancy).
The dr who scanned me thinkgs it may be a sign of infection or possibly some retained placenta from the miscarriage. So I'm going back to the GP tomorrow to see what the next step is, but it looks like another ERPC may be in order.
I wanted to let people know that things aren't always straightforward and that if you feel something is wrong you should trust your instinct and request further tests.
I hope all of this is sorted soon as I would love to be pregnant again and hopefully have a healthy baby this time.
Best wishes to others who have suffered losses.
