Is this my period?

I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks. The bleeding stopped about 3 weeks ago, although I have had a bit of brown spotting occassionally since then.

Yesterday I started bleeding again. It is quite heavy and bright red, but I have all the symptoms of my period (tired, hungry, the usual aches!).

Is this my period or is it the miscarriage still? How am I supposed to know?

Many thanks

I asked the same thing on Saturday when I had a fresh blood loss 3 weeks after a medically managed mmc. I am assuming it was my period because I had had a negative pregnancy test a few days before and a scan which had showed that my uterus was empty. it was much shorter and less painful than my usual period though, which I'm told is normal. I spoke to a nurse on the ward where I was treated who confirmed that it was probably my period.

Good luck x

Hi Rocky, I'm so sorry you've lost your baby, it's such a horrible thing to go through isn't it. It sounds like your period to me. I had a D&C last May and my period came exactly 3 weeks later and then followed 28 days thereafter back to my normal cycle (I was 9 weeks but found at at 12 week scan). I also had a natural mc in Sept last year and the same happenned then. Hope I've helped a little. Take care x

Thanks, I think it is my period as it has all the usual symptoms, although I have bled a lot heavier than I normally do.
I just hope that my body is getting back to normal fairly quickly as we are so eager to try again.
