Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

A lot of blood, is this normal?

Hi.
I am currently miscarrying at 9 weeks. I have been bleeding (brown blood) for 2 of last 3 weeks, then light red blood since last Saturday. Just now I have passed 2 massive clots (both about the size of a panini, can't think of anything else to compare them to, sorry).
Is this normal? I feel fine otherwise, no temp, no aches really, slight cramping. I felt better after passing the clots, I am just not happy about the thought of a possible hemorrhage happening, but I do realise the body has a lot of tissue to pass so am trying to be pragmatic about it.
Any help appreciated.

hi notwoozy yes aslong as u feel fine and are not pale in color or feeling faint it is ok but pls avoid heavy lifting or activitie til the bleeding stops i have bled for between 5 and 31 days in my miscarriages take care ;)

Notwoozy, sorry you are going through this. Yes it does sound normal. Just rest as much as you can but if you find that you're soaking more than a pad an hour or getting very weak then you should get some medical help. I was bleeding very heavily when I MCd and I started to feel very faint. I went to A&E and they put me on a drip which sorted me out. Good luck.

Notwoozy, I'm sorry to hear this, As the others have already said and take some time to rest yourself too. (lots of hugs)

Thank you all, I am writing this from my hospital bed, awaiting d & c tomorrow. I haemorreged (sp) unfortunately, rare but happens. Worst over. On drip, feeling vaguely better and quite bizarrely thrilled that the amount of blood I saw was not normal Smile. I couldn't go through that again frankly. Thank you all again. V unmumsnetty hugs to all.

Notwoozy, so sorry to hear this - it is a hard time, so as others have said, take some time for yourself, best wishes x

How awful for you Notwoozy. I'm glad you're being looked after and I really hope the physical side at least is over for you quickly.

I miscarried recently at 9 weeks and also lost a lot of blood. The bleed lasted just over a week in total, but there was a couple of days of very heavy bleeding, when I also passed a few large clots (a very weird sensation, they almost plopped out of me). I went to the hospital a week later and was told everything has cleared successfully. So it sounds to me like you'll be ok. Just get lots of rest and take it as an opportunity to look after yourself (lots of cups of tea, heat pads, and daytime tv!).

thanks everyone, you are all so kind I am teary. I am in bed, didn't have d & c in the end, but am being brought back to be scanned again in a week to make sure it is all gone. Still bleeding but much settled down.
Lots of crap movie catching up being done, lovely!

What a crap thing to have to go through, I wish strength to any woman who has had this.
