Early miscarriage? I don't know what to do...

I don't really know what to do... I thought that perhaps was pregnant but didn't take a test as was so early on. My period didn't come when it should have and when it came (yesterday) I had such horrible back pain, which I never normally have with my periods, and there were these funny clots, I don't remember having any like that before. I'm still in a lot of pain but that isn't really what's upsetting me - could it have been a miscarriage? I'm sure this sounds silly, but I Feel as though it was one, I feel utterly wretched. I have booked myself in to see the doctor tomorrow but will they think I'm being silly? What will they do? Will they be able to tell me for certain? I'm sorry to bother you all, I just didn't know where else to go.

If there is a 24 hr tesco open near you, you can always go and get a cheap pregnancy test, and take a test now to see if you get a positive. If you were pregnant, the test should still come up positive. Apart from that or a scan, you wont really know if you were pregnant or not. So I suggest take the test.
I am pretty sure the doctor will take a pregnancy test - if you havent taken one already. They wont send you for a scan, because it is too early - they may check your hcg levels over a few days, but I doubt they will do that - as this doesnt sound like a threatened miscarriage.

Good luck.

Thankyou for your reply, unfortunately I live pretty much in the back of beyond, so no emergency POAS for me. I didn't realise hormones would still show up if I was bleeding - so I should be able to find out either way then in the morning?

Hi there,
Yes, if you were pregnant, the hormones should still show on a test. Hope you're ok.

Hi, yes - the pregnancy hormone, hcg, remains in the body for a few weeks after a miscarriage - so dont worry, your doctor will/should do the test for you. If he/she doesnt, then try to buy a test tomorrow and find out for sure.

Thankyou for all your replies. I went to the doctor and unfortunately he said that it looks as though I have had a miscarriage.
