Waiting for miscarraige to happen Any Advice How Long

I started to bleed Saturday the 22nd, on the Monday I had a scan & there was no heartbeat, I should have been 7week&5 but the baby measured only 6mm, they said I would probably miscarry within the week but I was to go back on Monday for a 2nd scan if I hadn't - which I did, they told me the sac had come away & was very low & that the miscarriage was imminenet. I am getting conflicting information what will happen now, 2 MW's have told me I will have heavy bleeding & cramping & will be aware of it happening another told me I will just have like a heavy period & will not notice when the sac passes. I am still bleeding but its never been heavy without clots or pain!
I hope this sounds normal, but I would prefer to know, I don't want to think I could lose my baby without even noticing!
Just wondering if anyone has any advice/experience?x

Honestly, it depends how your body breaks it down. I'm sorry to hear of your loss.
If you're concerned then give the MW / EPU a call and ask their advice.
Everyone's m/c's are different - even the same person time to time. I've had 8 and my periods are generally horrific, so what's normal to me will most probably be nothing like what you experience. xx

Hi MrsSteph. I've had both experiences with mc around 6-8 weeks, a fairly heavy bleed and no obvious sac, and more recently a heavier bleed that finished with a morning of an odd, low-down pain and then the sensation of pushing something out - similar to pushing out a tampon to be honest. Except it's not, of course.
If there is a visible sac on the scan I imagine you will notice the sac coming out. I thought my mc was finished except for the pain I described but I think it was just my cervix slowly opening to pass the sac (I have a vague knowledge of anatomy at best!) Once this happened I had a small amount of bleeding still but it was basically over.

Hi MrsSteph. I started bleeding on the 26th, had a scan the next day and was measuring 5+3 when should have been 8+5. I go back tomorrow, but haven't stopped bleeding yet. It got heavier on Friday and more clotty. to be honest and probably tmi but each time I went to toilet more passed out and dropped to bottom so I couldn't see what it was.
I just really want to stop bleeding, was saying to my dp its just such a constant physical reminder every single time you go to the toilet :(

I do feel a bit like you though and that I have passed baby but couldn't tell you what day, and then I think what if at scan tomorrow it all still there and it will get worse before it gets better..

Hope you ok

Hi Mrs Steph. I had a mc at 7 weeks in September, I never had a scan so don't know where the pregnancy got to but I started with period type pains for a couple of days and then got a heavy period with lots of clots which lasted approx 1 week. My body went straight back to normal after the bleed had stopped.

I'm so sorry for your loss it is such a horrible thing to go through.
You're in my thoughts.

Hi MrsSteph

I'm currently going through my 2nd miscarriage and it's different to how my 1st was, so I guess no one can really tell you for sure exactly what to expect.

Both my mc were between 6&7 weeks. The 1st was very heavy blood loss with clots but only subtle pain throughout. I noticed when I passed the sac on day 4. The blood loss was still heavy for another 2 days afterwards but then eased off and evenutually stopped after 10 days in total.

This time I've not had anywhere near as much blood loss and I didn't even notice when I passed the sac (although it was confirmed on a scan on Monday that it had gone) but I had terrible cramping for the first 3 days. The blood loss has nearly stopped and I'm only on day 6 this time.

I know what you mean panashe about being reminded every time you go to the loo :(

Thanks for all the advice! My bleeding stopped yesterday, lasted 10 days but never got heavy or painfull! But today I have a terrible pulling/draging feeling which is slightly painfull, not sure if this is normal or maybe nothing to do with my miscarriage, they have agreed to give me another scan on Tuesday, which I am relived about! Feeling really sad & feel that DH is expecting me to be "moving on" but I am now feeling worse than ever! x

My DH is the same. I don't think he's being like it intentionally, it's just seems like he's drawn a line under it and can't understand why I still feel so miserable.

I think with my DH is that once we'd been told the baby had definitely gone, he was able to put it behind him in a way and he's already feeling positive about the future. I know he has been upset about it, but it's not felt the same to him. I've not only been in pain physically, but am also dealing with hormones, blood loss, the whole emotional "what should be happening now" thing and I just don't feel positive about the future yet. I know I will soon, but at the moment I just can't past the fact that I'm not pregnant any more.

We're going out for a meal tonight, just us 2. I'm going to try my best to put on a brave face and have a nice time

I personally find it easier to pretend to most people in RL that I'm absolutely fine. Put on a big smile and say I'm feeling normal again and confide the truth to DH and a couple of close friends. I can't be doing with family asking how I am when I know all they want to hear me say is I'm fine.

I hope you get on ok at your next scan. It's good you're able to have one. I haven't been offered a follow up one, I think they've just gone by hcg levels with me.
After my first mc I fell pg again 3 days after the bleeding stopped. I was also experiencing that pulling sensation around that time and wish now we'd waited before TTC as this was the pregnancy that resulted in my 2nd mc. I'm definitely waiting for AF this time before trying again, as the not knowing if I could've prevented 2nd mc by just waiting a month is tearing me up.

MrsSteph like you I had a mc at around 8 wks and the scan showed my baby was 6mm. I waited a wk for it to happen naturally but nothing did and the scan 1 wk later showed the foetal pole had shrunk a bit so things were happening slowly.

I couldnt cope with the waiting so had medical managment, a tablet followed by a pessary 2 days later. However, I started bleeding more heavily the next day but it wasn't really painful just like regular period pains. Thankfully, the hospital had asked my to try and retain any tissue lost so I was peeing into a tub (yuk)and I passed my baby with no pain but was so thankful it didnt get lost down the toilet. I only got clots just before the baby came out and would not have noticed the baby pass if I hadn't been looking for it.

The blood loss and pain was nowhere near what I expected. I went to the hospital for my pessary 2 days later but nothing more happened, just bled with clots for 2wks or so after Hope this isnt to graphic just wanted to help.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

Hello ladies, So sorry to read all your stories. Sad

I was diagnosed with a MMC 3 weeks ago yesterday and finally miscarried last Thursday.

I've found the emotional side of things more difficult to cope with than the physical. Hardest thing has been well meaning and thoughtful friends and family not quite understanding and occasionally upsetting me quite unintentionally.

I'm sure, like you all, I've been online and the best site I've found, is this one www.miscarriagesupport.org.nz/ourselves.html

there is a section on there for men - my other half has read and it has helped him and helped him to help me. I've also mailed my friends the link, because I found the advice in there was what I needed them to do to help me.

Hope this might help some of you
