had an ERPC 8 days ago. After 3 days or so bleeding almost stopped - it was light pinky/pale brown. Last couple of days very dark brown bleeding has started again - chocolate colour, not very much, about a panty liner every 4-6 hours.

Rang gynae ward who said to see GP, rang GP who were crap and won't give me appt til much later. Supposed to have gone away for work an hour ago!

is this normal? Should bleeding have stopped by now? will i need to go back in?

can anyone advise me or help me?

It could be that you have an infection. I would make an urgent appointment with your gp.

I had spotting for 3 days or so and then I had brown blood on and off for a few days. I also has 2 courses of antibiotics for infection.

It all settled down ok though and I had a period exactly 4 weeks later.

Nurse with Gynae experience here - this all sounds completely normal to me! Colour change is because the blood is older, it's a very tiny amount by the sound of it so i really wouldn't worry, we used to advise people that they may bleed for up to a month! If it becomed bright red fresh blood again than see someone. Clots are normal too though. Please don't fret about it. Very sorry for your loss x

Hi. Im sorry for your loss. I had ERPC on 30th Dec. I bled for around 3 weeks afterwards with different colour variations and different strength. I think as long as it doesn't smell weird and you feel ok (no fever or so) I wouldn't worry too much. It takes time to recover - physically and emotionally.
Good luck and take it easy. x

Push for a scan. I had this, it carried on for 2 weeks, at which point I started bleeding so heavily I was taken and admitted to hospital and had a 2nd ERPC. Not nice. Turns out I had retained tissue. Because ERPC's are blind procedures the dr can not be sure if they have gotten everything without a scan to confirm. Best of luck.

I bled for about three weeks, quite red, but not heavy. I remember them saying to me that any signs of smell (gross) would signal infection.

I've just finished a course of antibiotics for an infection after erpc, and believe me if you had an infection you would know!

I had normal brown discharge, but it smelt vile and I had quite a lot of pain. Almost felt like a urine infection.

Do go and see your gp though.
