Is this an early miscarriage?

I'm never late. well, i was twice and both times I was pregnant with my DSs.

I was due on Saturday and didn't test because being pregnant now would really change things for us. DS1 has just been diagnosed as SN and Ive only just got my head round that.

Came on on wednesday night, really really heavy, clots, so much more painful than usual. I usually get bad pain first 24 hours but I am sitting here in agony.

Does it sound like an early miscarriage? Sad
Do I need to get checked to make sure nothing is left behind if it is? Sad Sad

Thanks in advance.

I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks - it sounds as you describe and I wasn't advised to get it checked - but 4 days late? I don't know, sorry.

Periods and pains are weird. I've been late and in agony on odd occasions when there's not been a willy in sight!

Oh, and the SN topic is your friend Smile

I had a really early MC before I had my son and it sounds pretty similar to what you describe - it was different to a period in that the stuff that came out was pretty chunky (sorry TMI) and I've heard it described as chopped liver which is quite accurate. I didn't go and get it checked though - I felt fine after it had happened and went on to have healthy pregnancy a couple of months later. You could go to GP to set your mind at rest but to be honest they were pretty unhelpful when I did that!

Keep smiling

It sounds like a chemical pregnancy (where the egg is fertilised but doesn't implant). I've had quite a few of them (I have fibroid issues). They are not pleasant but ime, I haven't needed to see a GP. I have just had a heavier, clotty and slightly longer and more painful period.

Perhaps if your "period" lasts more than an extra couple of days and/or there is excessive pain, you could see your GP to put your mind at rest.

Thank you all. I really appreciate you getting back to me. It's put my mind at rest.
