Waiting and Worrying

Hello everyone and fellow worriers!
I had 3 mcs last year and thought I couldnt bear to do it again. I do have a ds, aged 2. All tests came back ok. We waited 5 months, and I am now pregnant again. I had an early scan today and saw a consultant, I calculated 7 wks (and Im pretty sure) but happily the scan showed all ok, and he said 15.3mm was about 8wks. I was so relieved I cried. But I have been here bfore, last mc showed hb at 7wks, and I went another 3wks before discovering after pain, that the pgcy had stopped at 7w+3.
Ive been prescribed 400mg progesterone pessaries. Has anyone else had these and do they work? Also on aispirin (but i was last time too to no avail)
This is such a worrying time..the last 3 weeks were agony building up to today, I nearly couldnt go in to the scan I was so scared. Tips on fast forwarding time/not becoming a total basketcase/ocd knicker watcher!??

JugglingMamma Congratulations! Apart from being petrified you must be thrilled!! I can just imagine being the same, on the one hand I can't wait to be pregnant again, but on the other scared of over thinking every twinge!

Terribly sad things can always happen after 12 weeks, but your baby is fighting fit at 13 and so you're much less likely to have anything go wrong.

No doubt you'll continue checking your knickers every 5 mins for a while, but enjoy it, you deserve to!!

Good luck xxx

Hi, congratulations, and try to keep positive - once you get past the 12 week stage it should all be plain sailing from there - so try to enjoy yourself.

Can I ask you, did your consultant prescribe you the progesterone suppositiries and aspirin or are you in private care?
I was under close attention on the NHS with this pregnancy, but I was not given anything as a precaution and have miscarried for a 4th time.
I have heard that the progesteron has helped alot of women maintain the baby in early pregnancy upto 12-13 weeks when the placenta takes over the hormone part. So keep positive - it has helped alot of women especially in america, where it is more readily prescribed to women.

thanks everyone..its def an awfful mixture of glimmering hope and terror. milkyway, yes, i have just been seen in worthing hospital by a consultant there under the NHS. I got the referral after a follow up appointment after my d+c there after mc3 last july. i was told to contact him as soon as i conceived again and he would monitor. today he prescribed aispirin all the way til the end and progesterone until week 12. they wouldnt see me before week 7 though which I think is odd, since its that extra help your body needs at the very start. Im moving to kent next week, so Im hoping I dont fall between two stools in terms of care, but at least I feel like Ive been given something, for what it may be worth? Im so sorry to hear about your 4th mc, it is so harrowing. how are you coping? My heart goes out to you..Im panicking at every twinge, and still expecting the worst despite all..hard habit to break when you've been hit lots of times, as you know. Lets see how it goes. Must remember to exhale, finding myself holding my breath in without realising!
thanks everyone x

I think you just get through each day as best you can. Eat well and have as gentle a time as possible. I remember how incredibly slowly these weeks can be - all the very best of luck to you.xxx

thanks greenink. you sound like you know what you are talking about? yep, snail-like time..moving house will take my mind off things for a few days! v frustrating not being able to lift and place mind you, am not risking it.
