How do you know if your pregnancy is ectopic?

Apart from strong pain on your lower side, did you have any symtoms before the pain?

I've got a dull ache on my lower left side that comes and goes, I'm 5 +6 . it's been going on for a few days now and I'm worried about ectopic.

Hi tia sorry you are going through this, it's awful i know. I had an ectopic 2 weeks ago and this is how mine went. I had spotting for about a week and then when i was 5 + 2 i had pains in my lower right side that got worse through the evening to the point where at 2am my husband took me to hospital. They kept me in but the pain stopped and i was sent home. I had another scan at 5+4 where it was found in my tube but i still had no more pain.
Please don't panic as could be nothing, i have had pains in my side and gone on to have healthy pregnancies but i would suggest you get yourself to the epau just to make sure all is ok. I was also told that shoulder tip pain is also a symptom although i didn't have that myself. If the pain seems to get suddenly worse i would go to a&e.
If you want to ask me anything then please feel free. I am on and off here alot. I hope this helps you a bit.

Thanks for the reply

Sorry you have been through it Sad
I've not had any spotting thankfully, if it gets really painfull I will go to a and e , I will go to my gp in the morning and see if he will refer me to the epu, he should do as I've had 3 mc before.

Low down dull aches (one sided or otherwise) are really, really common in the first trimester. The baby starts to bed in, the uterus begins to grow and the corpus luteum is attached to one of your fallopian tubes. All of these things can cause an ache as well as the general relaxing of joints that starts to happen.

If the pain gets worse, you have shoulder tip pain, you bleed or spot or lose a discharge that is abnormal for you then these are all signs that need checking out.
