Chance of investigations after 2 MC?

Hi ladies,
I found these boards invaluable after my first MC in August 2009 and am now back seeking more support and advice after my 2nd MC. My first MC was at 11+5 and this latest one (having an ERPC on Wednesday as it's not going anywhere on its own it seems) was at 10 weeks, but baby stopped growing at 9+1 - the day after a perfect scan, same as last time.

I am so so so lucky to have an amazing 3 year old DD so this was my third pregnancy. I know that 2 MC in a row usually doesn't warrant investigation, but my reason for looking for some answers is that I get horrendous hyperemesis when pregnant. This was therefore my third bout of it and i find it so difficult to cope with mentally and physically to end up with nothing at the other side - twice now.

I dread putting myself through this again if there is a possibility that something is going on that may require treatment which could have a positive effect on the outcome. Sooooooo after this mammoth post has anyone had any luck with pushing for testing after two MC? It took us over a year to conceive the latest pregnancy and we had been referred to the fertility clinic so I had a laparoscopy and hydrotubation which showed no problems. Although I am very nervous about having another ERPC as I know this can cause problems with adhesions etc. but don't feel I have a choice as my body seems determined to hold on to this pregnancy. I am 35 this month BTW.

Thanks for ploughing on and reading this!

I k ow

Hello m'ladies,

Well, yesterday was fine... The Consultant was lovely and has agreed to carry out chromosomal testing on the 'products' and then check my husband and I for chromosomal issues too. Although I am hoping these will be ok as we have a lovely DD already?? I am stressing a little about this though in case my husband and I are entirely incompatible and my daughter was some sort of miracle!

He is also going to check me for clotting issues which I am really happy about. Are there any other baseline tests I should be thinking of asking about just now?

The ERPC seemed to go well so i am just hoping that they managed to get everything and that I don't get Asherman's after my second ERPC!! Am in no real pain and have minimal bleeding and, thank god, the hyperemesis is really starting to subside.

Very me me me post. Again thanks for all your input and for thinking about me. Hope you are all doing ok. :-)

Hello Decaff,

Glad to hear that everything went as well as it could on Weds. Really good news that you are going to have some tests instigated. Just to fill you in I am 35 have a DS aged 2 and have been TTC#2 since June 2009, have managed to get preg twice but miscarried both at around 7 weeks (last miscarriage on Boxing Day). Myself and DH went to see GP last week to ask for some tests etc and she has referred us to the hospital so I would imagine it will take a while for a appt to come through. Keep me posted on what other tests they suggest for you, I want to go along to my appt armed with a list!

Anyway, hope the sickness has completely resolved and that you have a nice restful weekend. Take care. x
