unsure if I have miscarried

Hi, I am writing this to help my friend out. She did a pregnancy test 2 weeks ago which showed up positive on a clearblue test which was only faint. However about 5 days later she started to bleed and this lasted for about 3 days. She said it wasn't very heavy. She is now getting alot of pregnancies symptons and so I advised her to do another test. She did one and it is still showing positive. The only thing is the test line showing positive is still quiet faint maybe slightly darker than before but it might be the same, its hard to tell. Does anyone know what could be going on? thanks

Hey - did your friend not drink for a few hours before testing as if the urine is diluted then it will be faint. She should do it first thing in the morning. If she has got pregnancy signs that sounds positive. When I m/c I noticed my boobs literally deflated immediately! If still faint line in the morning it may be worth her going to the doc for an hcg test to check things are progressing normally. I have my fingers crossed for her.

I'm afraid it's impossible to tell at this point without a scan. She needs to go to the doctors and request a scan, most of all to rule out worries like ectopic pregnancy.

If she had her positive test 2 weeks ago she would be around 6 weeks now, if she tested when her period was due. It may be too early for the scan to show a heartbeat and sadly she probably has another few weeks of heartache to know either way but she should get scanned asap for her own healths sake.

I hope it works out well for her, such a worrying time. Lots of positive thoughts.

If the pregnancy was viable though wouldn't the pregnancy test be alot stronger by now?

lizzie I am not an expert, but speaking from experience I personally would not class it as viable until I had seen a scan and a heartbeat. It is a horrible uncertain time, and I would agree that a trip to the doctors is needed.

I agree with all that has been said - a scan is the only way to know. FWIW I had a full and heavy bleed for 6 days just as I suspected I could be pg so assumed that was all over. However I felt weird again shortly afterwards and did another pg test - it was faint but positive. A scan at 6 wks showed a viable pg. I have had a number of mcs and agree that the first sign for me (even before spotting) is boobs deflate, an energy surge and generally just 'knowing' something has changed.

hi,im new to this and am so confused,im 6 weeks preg and started spotting on sunday.i went to a+e and they scanned me and said they cud c a sac but it was only measuring five weeks.on tues i went again becuz the bleedin had become like a period and had another scan and they could still see a sac but still 2 early for a heartbeat.if i was mc would it not have shown on the scan that the sac had come away?im not cramping hardly and ive had no clots that i have seen,i jst dont no if im preggers are not.any advice would be great.

Hi sizzler1. It sounds like you are pregnant if they could see a sac but could you ring them and ask for clarification on next steps and whether you need to go in for a further scan or maybe they could take your bloods so that they can see if it (hopefully and fingers crossed) is a viable pregnancy?

thanx mamafoof for your wishes,ive to go on the 30th nov,but i think i no the outcome.im bleedin alot more today,actually believed it was starting to die off a bit but its def not by the looks of it.they havent offered me any blood work,they just told me to wait till the scan on tuesday.I think i had tiny clots i the bleedin today but its hard to know becuz they arent wat i expected a clot to look like.do u no how long a miscarriage last for and will i no wen i pass the sac?

tuesday cant come quick enough,done a preg test this morn and it still sayin im pregnant i no that this could not be the case with all the bleeding ive had,does any1 no who long it can take after mc 2 get a negitive result.?

sizzler, im in exactly same position as you, been bleeding and cramping for 3 days and had scan yest which showed i was 6wks and there was a sac, to have another scan in 11 days, the waiting is awful!! you're right how do you know? i hope things go well for you x

hi terrified35,thanx for the wishes,my wait is near over thank goodness,i just need closure if you no what i mean,its awful not knowing if im pregnant r not.the bleedin still here and still just like a period..I have read all sorts of stories about girls bleeding and still everything bein ok i really wish that this is my case and yours.keep urself busy till the next scan and i will keep my fingers crossed for u.i will post on tuesday my result after scan,

The dreaded day is here,will finally find out wat the outcome is of the mc.the bleeding more r less has stopped so nervous about it,dnt no why wen i no wat to expect,jst wish they wud give a lovely surprise for xmas.will post later wat the dr has 2 say,

hi,sori for takin so long to get back online.the scan wasnt good news and had to go back 2day to have another 1 to make sure everything was absorbed,a preg test is still positive but the doc seemed happy that i didnt need a d+c done so am pretty glad about that.I will just have to try and get over it and try again.

hi every1,am confused.i had my mc 4 weeks ago as u will c from my thread,wen i went 4 the last scan 12 days ago they said to retest again in 10 days which was friday to check if levels were down.i did so and still got a positive.me and my oh havent been careful so could i be pregnant again?eppc said to retest in 5 days.would the levels not all be back 2 normal by now?i had a bit of spottin 19 days after my mc which i thought was my period startin but it didnt come to anything.i dont want to get excited for nothing if you know wat i mean,can ant1 shed some light on this for me please.xx
