How long after D&C before AF arrives?

As the title asks really: Sorry if I sound abrupt but I just need to ask quickly and be all matter of fact about it so that it doesn't hurt as much.

I went for an early scan @ 9 weeks, 5 weeks ago today to discover no heartbeat. Had a D&C 3 days later (will be 5 weeks ago on Friday) and the doc said to wait until after my next AF and then we could start TTC again. Normally my cycle is 30 days, just wondering how long other people's AF tok to come back afterwards?

Hi Darling - I'm so sorry to hear your news :( My second miscarriage was found by scan at 9wks in June 2007 and was very distressing. From memory it took at least 6 weeks for every thing to get back to normal (physically) emotionally took longer.

Drs don't seem to know for sure what causes miscarriages - but I did find out two things:

if you don't get morning sickness it is more llikely and if you drink caffine (and I would guess other types of stimulants) can increase the likely hood - even more so if you don't have morning sickness. Therefore on my fifth pregnancy I cut out all caffine etc and I think it made a difference as I finally had a lovely daughter who is now two. I'm now 47 so I guess that should give some hope.

I wasn't drinking anything with caffeine anyway, apart from I think 1 diet coke with a meal when they didn't have anything else diet and I didn't fancy water.

Everything else is higher risk for me anyway, I'm diabetic. It was such a shock though s I'd had no pain, bleeding or anything...

I had erpc at 12 weeks (and it didn't work) and got my period three weeks after I naturally miscarried at what would have been 13 weeks.

I got my period 4.5 weeks after my ERPC which is about the length my cycles are anyway, so hopefully your period will come soon. Sorry for your loss. xxx
