How soon did you get a period after miscarriage?

Had miscarriage recently, the heavy bleed was 3/4Nov.I have pretty much stopped bleeding 4 days ago, only need panty liner and bloody discharge(sorry tmi) is there on wiping but very, very light.
I had a scan last Thurs as i was booked for ERPC if it had not all gone naturally. My endomitrial lining had gone from 18mm to 8mmand so had everything else (had a cry in scan room, not least because i had been waiting with all the pregnant ladies) so she said all was ok and i could try again after i had a period.
So what sort of wait am i looking at? I so want to get started, i can hear my biological clock BOOMING and i am getting older even as i type Sad

About 4-5 weeks I think. I bled for 10 days and I'm not sure exactly when I miscarried, hence the date confusion.

So sorry for your loss - it's shite isn't it?

Hoping you get some good news soon - I remember thinking, when my period arrived, that I'd never been so pleased to see it, since I was about 17!

rachk32 · 14/11/2010 21:25

sorry posted a response on the regular cycle post. I mc on the 22nd sept and had my 20 days of free spotting b4 i got my first af, on the 27th of october which was 5 weeks after. My mmc was natural so not sure if that makes a difference.
I had some slight spotting 5 days after my af but hopefully all is back to normal. X

I'm gonna ring the EPU when they open today to ask them where mine have got to - since it's 2 months to the day tomorrow since the ERPC and no sign as of yet of the old bag. Pointless going to my GP since he's being deliberately obstructive over the fact I won't go quietly and accept my childlessness so hopefully the EPU might have some answers.

Will post back if I get any pearls of wisdom from them.

Sorry to hear this totallyflakely.

I had two natural miscarriages at about 7 weeks - and I became successfully pregnant just three weeks after the second miscarriage.

Good luck.

emptyshell · 15/11/2010 09:41

If it's any help, I just rang the EPU (who've been fantastic compared to my chocolate fireguard of a GP). They're not unduly worried about a 2 month wait (calendar months) for my periods to rematerialize - said to give them a ring in another week or so if I'm having no joy to just monitor things.

Worth keeping an eye on pregnancy tests - mine took a long long time (longer than average) to go back to negative which could explain the extended wait I'm having for the red tide of doom to reappear.

ClaireDeLoon · 15/11/2010 09:44

Very sorry about your mc totallyflakey.

For me it was 4 weeks after the very heavy bleeding/passing clots for my two natural mc's and again 4 weeks from the date of the ERPC with the third. So maybe early December based on the dates of your heavy bleed?

Totallyfloaty35 · 15/11/2010 12:55

Thankyou, sorry so many of us have gone through this. However good to hear that i should not have too much of a wait.
Am hoping to try around Dec/Jan.Should i be doing preg tests to check if its negative? I just assumed they would be as my bleeding has stopped.
Wow who would have thought i would be desperate for my period to show up!
emptyshell hope your AF appears soon.

Hi all, mine took 5 months after an ERPC and my GP wasn't worried about anything up to 6 months, so the advice out there is really varied. I think the key is not to stress (easier said than done, believe me, I know!) and keep plugging away at your GP and EPU if you feel it's been too long.

BTW mine came back after a couple of doses of acupuncture? I went into it v sceptical (just thought if I felt I was doing as much as I could, I'd relax) but now I think there might be something in it? so worth a try!

Hi Sorry for you losses.
I started to misscarry on the 25/09 had an ERPC on 30/09. I got a negitive test fairly quickly around 7-9d days after erpc. My AF came on the 29/10 staight back into my 29 day cycle. btw i was 8 weeks don't know if that makes a difference. I was told i could try as soon as the bleeding stopped and to wait at least 7/8 weeks for periods to return.
everyone is different but you will know if things don't feel right and go to your Gp or the EPU that treated you. Good luck ladies x

Hi ladies,

I sadly misscarried on the 3rd of August naturally. How soon after am I due to get a period. We have also had unprotected sex through these weeks so should I be taking a pregnancy test the day I’m meant to be due my period? Thanks all x

Twcsteph84 · 27/08/2020 07:17

I miscarried naturally on 3rd aug too. 24th aug went to hospital for checkup and tested negative. Dr says period should come in 1-2 weeks.

LatriceShaw · 28/08/2020 15:42

I had missed miscarriage on July 20 2020 and it’s been 5 weeks since it happen and I haven’t had no period but I have been cramping for 2 weeks now I’m scared need some advice please

Twcsteph84 · 29/08/2020 00:31

I’ve got period-like cramps but only for 1 day last week. Occasional minor cramps here and there this week.
Did you get a negative on your pregnancy test?

Chlob83 · 01/09/2020 19:34

Hi all,
I’m sorry for your losses and hope that some of you have gone on to have success...

I have a question. I had a medically managed miscarriage 2 weeks 6 days ago bleeding for 2/3 days then spotting. Spotting stopped early last week, had intercourse on Friday , all ok. Then this morning I had a random bleed (like period) no pain or any other signs (tbh I thought I might be ovulating today as my miscarriage fitted my cycle from before on dates-but I know this can be way off as well!) It was fresh blood this morning with old blood and nothing more than panty liner needed since. No other period things except a few facial spots (again I get these around ovulation anyway.) Called EPU who have said it’s uncommon to have a period 3 weeks after a medical miscarriage but not impossible and usually it would be heavy & painful ( my normal periods have always been like this to an extent!). I’ve got to give it 7 days and if it doesn’t clear up call them to go in.
I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this? I’ve read that from 4 weeks onwards is usual for first period after a miscarriage...

Chlob83 · 01/09/2020 19:35

Oh I forgot to say, I had a negative pregnancy test yesterday (2weeks 5 days after miscarriage) as requested by EPU...

Chlob83 · 01/09/2020 19:39

Hi @LatriceShaw, how bad is your cramping? Enough to take painkillers? They say a period after a miscarriage can take from 4 weeks onwards so I wouldn’t worry about it not happening just yet. If you’re concerned about the cramping maybe get in touch with your EPU? Mine have been helpful with my questions (they’re often better than the GP as they are experts in this stuff!) Try not to worry, it could also be your body adjusting after what it’s been through. So sorry for your loss. X

Twcsteph84 · 09/09/2020 17:56

Just got my period on 8th Sept. Miscarriage bleeding started on 3rd Aug. That’s about 5 weeks from bleeding.
Bleeding is slightly heavier than my usual which the Dr have prompted. Other than that, Nothing else unusual.
