Hi, this is my first post and I'm really after some advice as I've had a terrible year. We had a failed ivf in march and we then lucky enough to fall naturally in may. Bleed from the start and had a d&c in July. Started to try again and fell again and now nearly 6 wks BUT have been using progesterone suppositories since brown cm before period was due. Have been using them every couple of days but stopped on Monday after advice from gp. Had red bleed yesterday with cramps turning to brown. Have used progesterone again this morning and bleeding stopped again. Am going for scan on Tuesday but really need advice/opinions on what I've done ...

I don't really understand how that works, never been on it myself. But have had 3 mc, one late one. But its highly unlikely anything you did caused it.

Sorry for your loss.

I don't understand it either but I doubt very much you have caused it. Just hold out for the scan and see what is going on.

Take care and I will be thinking of you xxx

Thank you for your kind words x

Hey Ginger - you won't have caused it. So sorry you are going through this. I hope the scan on Tuesday gives you positive news, you never know what's going to happen - will be thinking of you. Keep coming back online here for support if you need it, sounds like a really hard time, and I know just waiting a few days for a scan is the longest wait.

hi, Lesley Regan's view, as set out in her book 'Miscarriage, What Every Woman Needs to Know' is that progesterone supplements simply delay, rather than prevent miscarriages. her theory is that low progesterone is a symptom, rather than a cause, of a failing pregnancy. I'm not a doctor but if her theory is right, it could be that your supplements simply delayed/interrupted bleeding that would have happened anyway. this is not meant to be a negative response to your query - just a very practical one. i'm sorry you're going through this as i know only too well how absolutely horrible it is.

Thank you for your kind and practical responses. I've been amazed by the contact with people I don't know and it's really helped me get through the last few days. I went for my scan this morning and saw the sac on the scan. It's the right size for my dates but no yolk or heartbeat so have to go back in 10 days so still don't know if it's viable or not. I had to insist on blood tests to show hcg and progesterone levels and will get them back this afternoon
