It started yesterday. Just a little bit. I had to go to casualty as I haven't had my 12 week scan yet. I know there's nothing they can do. I have a scan at the EPU on tuesday but the blood is more like my period now. Red and gloopy. It's not a constant flow but comes when I go to the toilet. I'm so scared. I don't know what to do. I have a dull pain in my tummy but don't feel I need painkillers or anything. It's a miscarriage isn't it?

Didn't want to leave you unanswered. I think all you can do is try to stay calm until you have your scan on Tuesday, there can be other causes of bleeding too, so don't give up hope just yet. [hug]

thanks x

Hello mouse - it may or may not be a miscarriage. It's surprisingly common for bleeding to occur at this stage of pregnancy. Sometimes it does mean a miscarriage but there are many times it does not and nobody can identifiy why the bleeding occurs. I had bleeding at 11 weeks with my DS and he's now 7!
If you ring the EPU tomorrow morning the liklihood is that they will try and see you before Tuesday.
Look after yourself and I hope that all works out well.

cluelessnchaos · 03/10/2010 08:41

Be kind to yourself, I had a massive red bleed just before 12 weeks and was sure I had miscarried, I was really shocked when baby was fine. Can they not get you a scan a little earlier?

Pancakeflipper · 03/10/2010 08:41

It's so hard to say if it is or not... I bleed red blood lots in both pregnancies Sanitary towels required... I was convinced it was a micarriage. And both mine were fine so it's not always a miscarriage but that doesn't help you really....

You need the EPU scan and I know that Tuesday seems ages away.

Have you got a midwife ? If you have phone her and see if she can get you in on Monday.

mousebacon · 03/10/2010 09:08

thank you for the replies ladies. will try my midwife in the morning. just want to know either way. never experienced this with my son Sad

yy, I had a bleed too with DS1 (now 13)

So don't give up hope.

randomimposter · 03/10/2010 19:59

hey mouse - feel for you.

My experience is a BIG red bleed at 14 weeks with DS, now 2, and then 3 MMCs at 12 weeks, one with no bleeding at all, one with a tiny amount of coloured CM at 11 weeks, and one with spotting from the time I had my BFP onwards to 12 week scan (but baby actually made it to 10+1).... what does that say? Fcuk knows...

Bleeding is VERY common, and needn't be bad news. But I know how worrying it is. FX for you x

How are you this morning? Sadly for me both times I have bled have meant MC, but as the posters above have shown a bleed need not be bad news, I will cross my fingers for you. x

It was a miscarriage I had to go in through the night on Sunday where they confirmed my cervix was open. Am utterly devastated and can only imagine months and months of ttc ahead of me Sad I had medical management and was in hospital all day yesterday but there's still a chance of retained products so have to go back in 10 days if a pg test is positive. Just feel really really woozy and tired now. Is that normal? I can't face food so it might just be that. Thanks for all the advice ladies it was very much appreciated xx

I am so very sorry to hear this. I am in the same boat as you and am thinking about all those months of disappointment that lie ahead when I resume TTC. xx

mousebacon · 05/10/2010 22:08

Hope you're ok KT. How long ago was your MC? Hope you're on the road to recovery xx

A month ago, had a scan last friday and finally it is complete and cervix closed, just waiting for periods to resume, though I am not expecting anything before Dec based on my last MC. I hoped that I wouldn't get obsessed this time with TTC BUT already I can feel myself thinking about it. It is crap.

Hope you have no retained products. I felt shattered after MC and still do, I can't be arsed with food either, I am eating and drinking rubbish. I think I am ok and then I will have a little cry. Take care of yourself xx

mousebacon · 05/10/2010 22:27

Thank you. Didn't realise it could take so long for periods to return. My cycles have always been erratic but I was hoping it would only be a few weeks. I'm truely sorry for your losses xx

randomimposter · 06/10/2010 05:26

mouse am so sorry the way it's turned out. In terms of periods returning, it really varies... mine have been exactly one calendar month after MMC1 (ERPC) and MMC2 (nat) and then 4 weeks after MMC3 (ERPC).

barbie1 · 06/10/2010 05:46

mouse so sorry... i had a mmc at 12 weeks and my periods never returned Hmm
It wasnt all bad news though because i went on to conceive and now have a gorgeous 7 month old dd (still haven't had a period and my mmc was in sept 08 Shock)
Take it easy over the next few weeks, i found that i had a hormone crash about 3 weeks after, totally unprepared for it. Its normally to be tired, off food and a little sick...

Good luck for the coming months x

HeftyNorks · 06/10/2010 07:23

Sad So sorry to hear this mouse. I had a mmc before I had DS. Just a bit of bleeding at 8 weeks and then disaster. I concieved again within 6 months and have DS who is 7 now.

Look after yourself xx

Tezbean · 06/10/2010 11:01

Hi I think I'm in the same boat.

Sad I thought I was 11 weeks when I started spotting on Friday. I went to hospital and they scanned and said the dates must be wrong and that it was only 3mm and there was no fetal pole or heartbeat yet. I think it just means it had stopped growing but they said to come back for another scan in a week which is horrible as it just prolongs the agony.

Since then I've bled some more but only really when I go to the loo, and I've had quite painful cramps. The signs obviously aren't good but I'd expect there to be much more blood if I was having a miscarriage.

Can anyone help?

KTRace · 06/10/2010 13:39

I am so sorry to hear this Tezbean it can take a little while for the bleeding to start, mine took 10 days from the scan that showed there was no longer a heartbeat (I was 10 weeks at this point), however the fetus had died sometime in the previous 2 weeks.

With my first MC I started spotting on the thursday night, by the saturday it was all over (I was 9 weeks).

mouse with regard to periods coming back, I have something wrong with me that means I don't have them unless I am on medication - so don't worry about yours taking as long as mine, they probably wont.

kat2504 · 06/10/2010 19:55

So sorry mousebacon and tezbean, I've been there quite recently and it is a horrible shock. I second the feelings about the months and months of ttc ahead. Especially when you know you "ought to be" pregnant. It is very very hard. Have no extra advice that others haven't said, but wanted to add my sympathy. Hope you are taking good care of yourselves.
