Can I have recurrent mc tests done privately?

I'm wondering if it's possible to have some basic tests (eg the one for clotting disorders) done privately - I'm asking as have had two mc and the thought of getting pregnant/mc again just so the nhs will agree to test me is horrendous.
I don't want to hand myself over to some private clinic though that might test for a million things..

I'd appreciate any general advice very much, and anything specific to Scotland even more so!

I had private blood tests done at GCRM in Glasgow after 2 MCs. I think it cost about £500 in total, few months ago though so I could be a bit out with that (but was in that region). I had blood clotting, hormone and genetic compatibility tests done. However I don't think GCRM are that used to doing this, they are more geared up towards IVF. In fact, I know suspect that the hormone tests they did were pretty much a waste of time and money, as not done on the right cycle day (they did FSH and LSH on day 14 after a miscarriage, when I think these should be day 2). If you go private and are paying a lot of money for the tests, I would make sure that they are being done on the right day (for the hormone ones). The other place I found which was prepared to do these tests for me was GP Plus in Edinburgh.

My (private) tests never did show anything, but after a lot of nagging my GP did agree to do day 21 progesterone on the NHS, and that came back very low 2 months running. I think the progesterone test is very cheap to run, so could you see if your GP would agree to this as a first step?

Thanks for that Grumpyfish, that's really helpful.
Good luck too Smile
