Threatened Miscarriage

I am just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and what happened? At the weekend I was 9 wks but on Sunday starting bleeding and went to A&E who said blood tests were inconclusive, it was a threatened miscarriage and to come back on Tues for more blood tests. The Tuesday results showed that the HCG levels have dropped and I am booked in for a scan on Friday (but going to go to a different hospital's walk in clinic to get a scan tomorrow).

I have been bleeding constantly since Sunday ranging from a heavy period to a mild period with cramps but nothing too severe. Now, still bleeding but not cramping much and some initial clotting but nothing massive.

I am assuming the scan will show a miscarriage and it will just depend on the scan whether I need a procedure to remove anything or not.

At the moment, I just want it over and done with and was definitely prepared for the worst on Sunday but it just seems to be dragging on.

Has anyone had anything similar to this. Don't suppose anyone had something similar and had a positive outcome?

I am actually feeling ok about it all at the moment. I am so lucky to have a gorgeous dd who is 2 to cheer me up.

Sorry you are going through this.

I am afraid I cant answer your question, I had a mc but it was completely different, no signs at all, just there was no heartbeat on the scan. I hope someone who has had similar circumstances will come along soon and offer some info. I just didnt want your post to go unanswered.

I really hope the scan brings you some good news, if it doesnt though you will find lots and lots of supportive people here so do come back.

Wishing you all the best,
hugs
xxxx

I am sorry you are going through this, I have just started bleeding at 11 weeks, though I found out last week there was no heartbeat.

My previous MC I started bleeding spontaneously at 9weeks. I too went to A&E, then through to a gyne ward. They scanned me and told me it was a threatened MC and that I needed to come back in a week for another scan. In that week the bleeding became full on and I passed the sac and embryo.

I hope your scan goes ok. xx

Thanks both for replying. I think that if it is a definite miscarriage, I would rather have a procedure to get rid of everything than have to pass an embryo as I am really squeamish and that will freak me out.
Sorry to hear your news KT. Hope you are ok.

I am ok, just very sad and tired.

I hope you are ok too. With regard to having an ERPC if that is what you would rather then it is the right decision for you.

Good luck

hi pudding
I have had 3 MMCs, and also a threatened miscarriage with DS (now 2), when I bled a lot at 14 weeks but all was fine.

If your HCG levels have dropped (and you have had no scan yet? Am I reading that bit correctly?) it must be very worrying for you.

Just wanted to say I am also very squeamish, and therefore opted for ERPC first time round. 2nd time I MC naturally whilst on 10 day waiting list for ERPC and actually it was ok... lots of blood loss but not too much pain. And I felt my cycle got back to normal more quickly. My 3rd one was confirmed 2 weeks ago, I waited a week to MC naturally but had to have surgery in the end as was moving house and needed it to be "over" (physically if not emotionally).

I suppose what I'm saying is that IME both nat and ERPC were fine. I hope that if this is a MC as you fear you get the outcome that suits you best.

pudding25 · 01/09/2010 21:52

I am going to hopefully get a scan at the walk in clinic tomorrow although I will probably have to wait ages. I am assuming the worst as better that way.
I hope I don't have to wait 10 days although I wouldn't be surprised knowing my local hospital's waiting lists for everything.
Thanks for your advice.
I just want to know now what is going on although with dropped HCG levels and still bleeding I am assuming it is a given.
Hope you are ok Jollster.

pudding i hope you get some clarity very very soon, if only for your own sanity.

I MC naturally at the beginning of august. I too was dreading it - it was pain free, just a huge amount of blood loss. I hope you dont find yourself in that situation, but if god forbid you do, in hindsight, its not totally freaky, and i am told your body recovers more quickly naturally.

Do you not have an EPU (early preg unit) who will scan you asap?

Wishing you luck

pudding25 · 01/09/2010 22:25

That's where I am going tomorrow as my local hospital won't scan me until Friday.
The EPU is actually at the hospital where I had dd (and where I was meant to be going for this pregnancy). As it is in central London and we are not, I went to our local A&E when I started bleeding.
Thanks for everyone's support.

Well the scan showed definite miscarriage and thankfully, no need for any procedures as everything has cleared out and they said the bleeding should stop soon. I actually feel relieved that it is all over now. Thanks for your support and good luck to everyone.
