Hello everyone,

Was just hoping someone out there may be able to offer some advice. This is a long story - I will try not to ramble on. Our first child was born in 2005. At first all was great but at 12 weeks he developed severe breathing difficulties. He died aged 18 weeks of a little known genetic disease called SMARD (spinal muscular atrophy with respiratory distress) - obviously devastating. Each of our pregnancies has a 1 in 4 chance of being affected by SMARD but it can be tested for at 12 weeks gestation. Since our boy died we have had 6 pregnancies (the first 2 miscarried, then I had a termination at 13 weeks as the baby had SMARD and would have died within the first 6 months of its life, then another 3 miscarriages). It is unlikely that the miscarriages are SMARD related although no other problems have been found (we have had tests at St. Marys). Anyway, recently Guys have developed a PGD test for SMARD and we are going to give this a go. I was just hoping someone could share their experiences of drugs they have taken during pregnancy. Last time I had Clexane and progesterone but it didn't make a difference. Also, wondered whether to pursue NK cells before the IVF begins. Obviously I want to give ourselves the best chance possible. Thanks for reading. Take lots of care everyone and be kind to yourselves.

Hi ac, so sorry to hear about your experiences :-( I have no experience to share but someone at work told me about one of their relatives that had NK cells, and they had a successful pg by taking half a steriod a day, sorry no more information than that though.
