Hi ladies,
I had an erpc 3 weeks ago this past Friday. Have had light brown bleeding with clots since. Was supposed to be having a scan tomorrow but around 5 pm today a sudden gush and very heavy bleeding started so headed to a&e. Passed alot of very large clots and bled very heavily, consultant said that I needed another erpc and admitted me. Bleeding has since subsided and another gyne has just said they are going to give me iv antibiotics and re scan me in the morning. Feeling very vulnerable as I don't want to start bleeding overnight again! Any advice or experiences?? Thanks in advance!

Hi banana87,

Sorry you are going through this. I think you did the right thing going to A & E, if you do bleed more heavily help will be right on hand.

I've had two ERPC's, the first after my son was born and another recently after a miscarriage. I had retained placenta products a month after giving birth and went to A & E after sudden heavy bleeding like you. I was given IV antibiotics and was going to be "monitered" over night, but when I tried to go to the toilet I felt dizzy and collapsed. I ended up being rushed in for an emergency ERPC and had lost so much blood that I needed two blood transfusion afterwards.

I was told afterwards that I really scared the nurses a lot because I hadnt been able to reach the "help" button so I shouted "help!" instead. Apparently they werent used to this and there was a lot of sprinting!

I hope my story doesnt scare you. Once I had the ERPC and transfusions I recovered really quickly and the staff were very caring and helpful.

You must be feeling really nervous right now because you are just waiting, but it will all be over soon and you will be recovering at home in no time.

Let us know how you get on,

hugs xxxx
