Can anyone please help, I had ectopic pregnancy just over 4 weeks ago which resulted in losing a fallopian tube and was wondering when will I get my first period?? I am desperate to start trying again but I have been told to wait til Ive had a least one full cycle. It is now 4weeks since post op bleed and wondered if there was anyone who had been in same position

Hi There, I went through exactly what you have almost three years ago.
Am very sorry for your loss, I can't remember exactly how long it was before my period came, around the 5 week mark I think.

Be prepared though, it may be quite a painful period you get. No-one warned me of this and I was quite shocked as I'd never had any bother/pain with periods before, but speaking to others, it's quite common after ectopics.

After my ectopic I bled for thirty days (due to mild infection) two weka after the bleed stopped i got a shorter and lighter than usual period and on day twelve I ovulated. I hope your cycle returns to normal soon I know how frustrating it is waiting!

Hi, I had ectopic 18 months ago, now have a beautiful dd, 6mo, but the process of trying after the op was really stressful. I think my periods returned 4 weeks after the op. I waited 3 months before trying as I'd read that the majority of people who have a second ectopic got pregnant again before 3 months. There is a support website for people who have had ectopic pregnancies:
www.ectopic.org.uk/
I found really helpful, and they might have some answers to your question.
Good luck

Hi
It took me about 6 weeks for my period to come back after the op. I think it kind of took my body a while to work out that the pregnancy had ended and to reset itself.
I can really understand you being desperate to start ttc again (I know how that feels) but honestly that time will come soon enough and it's important you have time to heal physically/emotionally before getting pg again.

Fwiw, I had 2 eps and subsequently had a lovely baby who is now 9 months old. I hope you get a fantastic result too.

Hi I had an ectopic pregnancy all through December and had methotrexate to resolve it, it resolved around January the 28th when my HCG levels finally dropped to 4 and I was discharged. My period still hasn’t come back and it’s been over 2 months should I be concerned ? Before the ectopic my cycles were regular and 39 days apart , so quite wider apart.

I had an ectopic pregnancy all through December and had methotrexate to resolve it, it resolved around January the 28th when my HCG levels dropped to 4. I was advised to start taking the contraceptive pill so there wouldn’t be a chance of me getting pregnant again, I came off the pill 19 January. My period still hasn’t come back and it’s been way over 2 months should I be concerned ? Before my cycles were regular and 39 days apart

I had my third of July in my period started yesterday which is 31st August, but it’s not that heavy it’s very light and no pains! Should I be worried?

Adwoarita · 01/08/2023 12:13

My surgery was 3th of July 2023 and my period just started yesterday 31st of August, but my concern is it is very light and no pain at all. Should I be worried or should I consult the doctor?

Jessicaem · 01/08/2023 15:12

My first period back was the exact same! Really light, a little brown in colour and no pain at all. It only lasted 3 days too

Hi,@Adwoarita @HNewLeaf @Jessicaem

So sorry to hear about all your experiences, it’s such a difficult time and I hope your recovery has been going well.

I’m 4.5 weeks post ectopic surgery, and a very light bleed started today. It was our first pregnancy.

If you don’t mind sharing your experience these past few months as I’m anxious to know what to expect and anxious to know when I should start ttc again?

thanks x

Hi.
I had a a drug to dissolve the eptopic 4 weeks ago. Had a slight bleed then but my hcg was to high and it ended up rupturing and I needed the op. And lots my left tube.
I'm 3 weeks after my op and I've now got period which seems so quick, and it's painful and awful.
Not sure if this is normal.
But it a bad period
