Bleeding after erpc . . .how long?

I had my first erpc last tuesday. I didn't bleed on the tuesday or wednesday but started on thurs. I bleed heavily that day and then not so much on friday. Over the weekend I have still been bleeding but not that much and it seems to go between proper blood and more liquidy blood (sorry tmi!). I was just wondering how long this might go on for and when I should be worried! I am still on antibiotics so not worried about infection, more the annoyance of not really bleeding but bleeding enough to be a pain!

So sorry to hear of your loss.

I bled for a week or so after my ERPC, but I was warned by the hospital that it might take up to two weeks. I think my bleeding was quite heavy (I seem to remember it being as bad as when I had a natural MC) and then had a month before my first period. That actually was worse than the bleeding after the ERPC (went on for three weeks with huge gushes of blood and clots) and turned out to be because the ERPC hadn't been done properly. So if your first period doesn't feel right, go back for a scan.

Take it easy, though. Are you able to rest?

Hi knackered, I rang the hospital again on fri (my ERPC was on thurs) because my bleeding had got heavier and I had some clots (sorry, prob TMI) and they told me I could bleed for up to 2 weeks. It's a bit lighter today but I've got uncomfortable period pain like pains. Hope you're doing ok, I'm feeling a bit stressed about going back to work tomorrow.

That sounds rubbish reallygrumpy with your pains I'm at home with my other 2 so don't have to contend with work, just the other mums! If you don't feel up to it then don't go back. Be kind to yourself, you've been through it the past few weeks and need to spoil yourself. I have got a new bag and a new lens for my camera since tuesday, as well as many cakes, biscuits and chocolate!

Thanks for your answer ttalloo, guess I'll just have to wait it out. Can't say I'm looking forward to my first period after this! I get 3 mornings a week without my dc's so am resting up/shopping for myself then!

Cakes, biscuits, chocolate and rest are just what you need right now, knackered. I hope that the bleeding stops soon and everything gets back to normal. And that your next pregnancy goes well.

reallygrumpy don't go back to work tomorrow if you are still in pain. It's just not worth it, especially if you are producing clots.
