Hi everyone,
We're in a bit of a pickle and would love some advice! We're currently planning a house move, which may even mean relocating to another city entirely. The timing couldn't be worse, as we're also in the process of selecting a secondary school for our child (Year 6). It's feeling really overwhelming, so I was hoping for some wisdom from those who’ve been through something similar.
A few key points:
- We’re considering schools in our current area and in the new city, but we haven't secured a house yet, which complicates things.
- Has anyone managed to apply for schools when they didn’t yet live in the catchment area? How does that work practically?
- Any tips on balancing school selection with house hunting? Should we choose the school first, then focus on housing nearby?
- What’s the best way to handle admissions deadlines when we're still unsure where we’ll be living?
- If we move mid-year, how easy (or difficult!) is it to switch schools once we’re settled?
-
We want to make the best decision for our child, but with so many variables, it’s hard to know what to prioritise. If anyone’s been through this or has any practical advice, we'd really appreciate it!
Thanks so much in advance! 😊
