Class ratio - boys & girls

AIBU to worry that my son will be in a class that now has 23 boys and 7 girls when we specifically wanted a co-ed school for him? Our school doesn't mix the classes annually like some (3 form entry) and quite a few children have left & they have been replaced with new children who are mostly boys. A few other parents are concerned that and more are considering removing their children because of it, which will surely continue to make things worse. I'd be grateful for views.

Our school is heavily dominate by boys and nothing anyone can do as it's just the area. It's not ideal for the girls.

Those are the exact ratios of my son's primary cohort.
We just made a real effort not to thoughtlessly exclude the girls, ie, at parties, play dates.
It was obvious, though, that the girls were being spread amongst the boys, used, as usual, as the buffer between two 'problem' boys.
We recently moved house, and my son is now in a more evenly split class. As the 'new boy' he has been allocated to a group of boys, but says it's really noticeable that boys and girls aren't friends, in the same way as they were at his old school. Also, that he was mocked for talking to girls, as in 'ooh, she's your girlfriend'. I didn't expect that.
I'm not sure what my point is, other than that I'm glad I'm not the parent of one of those girls.
