Change from 3 tier to 2 tier system

The local authority in our area are proposing a change from a three tier system to a two tier one.

Does anyone have experience of this happening and if so was it a positive or negative move?

So your child would only change at the end of year 6?

In my experience it's positive, there's only one formal transition period and students are settled and have string relationships with teachers going into GCSE.

Thanks for your comment. My main concern is that the change will result in a massive secondary school of about 2000 pupils.

My DD has special needs and the thought of her having to go into a school this size absolutely horrifies me.
She is currently at a very small rural first school and I feel that to go from that to such a massive school would be very bad for her.
